What you'll be doing Provide leadership for the regional property team in the marketing and underwriting of new and renewal business opportunities for retail broker partners, focusing on Property and related product lines, while contributing to special projects as assigned by senior management. Lead the future development of the existing underwriting staff and the hiring of future underwriters in the southwest region. Contribute to regional planning by developing and executing an annual desk-level underwriting plan. Mentor and motivate team underwriters, working with underwriting assistants and other integral members of the team. Support the training and onboarding of new hires to foster a knowledgeable team. Analyze submission data including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs, and financial reports to determine degree of risk for each account. Utilize advanced underwriting tools and methodologies to evaluate complex property exposures. Adhere to underwriting guidelines, authorities and referral requirements as needed by regional management, product management and chief underwriting officers. Collaborate with internal colleagues to assess current and prospective risks, including actuarial, claims, legal and risk engineering. Provide proactive service with the Middle Office to ensure timely and accurate delivery of quotations, binders, policies and endorsements. Cross-sell with other business units to maximize deployment of AXA XL's capital and broaden product offerings. Monitor marketplace trends to stay informed about and ahead of emerging issues and opportunities within the Property sector. Maintain compliance with all internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements. Assist in portfolio management regarding limit deployment, attachment point aggregation, pricing adequacy and policy terms and conditions.
