The Trade Compliance Team is a group of subject matter experts who work to ensure compliance with applicable governmental rules and regulations both in the US and abroad. The Final Test Department consists of engineers that are responsible for executing quality control tests internal to the factory as well as travel to various customer sites world-wide to support the installation of newly delivered systems. Axcelis is seeking a mechanical engineer to lead the design and development of highly mechanized and automated capital equipment for the semiconductor industry. Working closely with product and marketing managers, the engineer is responsible for developing innovative solutions to difficult engineering challenges facing ion implanters. Projects may include new product development, continuous improvement, part obsolescence, and field-identified issues. The engineer will champion sound engineering methods, analysis tools, DfX, and concurrent product development processes to deliver solutions right the first time. In addition to owning projects, the engineer will also guide less experienced engineers, knowing when to coach and when to delegate to elevate others on the team. Responsibilities Develop new and innovative solutions for existing and future ion implanters. Ensures adherence to the development process, including requirements planning, schedule estimates, concept reviews, design reviews, verification, and validation test plans. Monitors progress of projects, confers with program and project engineers, and reviews reports to see that development is progressing according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines. Recommends corrective action as required. Manages the mechanical engineering interface to the design services group and to offshore teams to deliver quality designs and on-time performance.
