B/E Aerospace company history timeline

1987

The group purchased the company in 1987.

Founded by Amin Khoury in 1987, B/E Aerospace evolved from a $3 million company to a firm with $2.6 billion in revenue, making it the world's leading manufacturer of aircraft interior products and solutions for the commercial, business jet, and military markets.

1989

In 1989, the group bought Bach's primary competitor, EECO Avionics, which landed the company a 60 percent market share (later to grow to 70 percent). The two acquisitions gave the company its name: B/E Avionics.

1992

In 1992 BEA paid the Pullman Co. $73 million for PTC Aerospace, a maker of airline seats, and its subsidiary Aircraft Products Co., which made equipment for in-flight kitchens.

1993

BEA continued its growth-by-acquisition strategy in 1993.

Revenues reached $200 million in 1993.

1996

Robert J. Khoury became CEO in April 1996.

1997

They had previously sold off significant amounts in August 1997.

1998

In fiscal year 1998, BEA's IFE group had revenues of $81 million.

2000

LiveTV used BEA's BE 2000 video system coupled with a new antenna and receiver based on United States military satellite applications.

2009

B/E stated at the time: "The combined businesses are expected to generate more than 50 percent of B/E's operating earnings beginning in 2009."

2013

Delta Air Lines was the launch customer, with the first aircraft delivery on 9/27/2013.
