Baker County School District company history timeline

1865

Baker started as a district in 1865, at which time four others existed.

1866

Baker's first school was in a kitchen in 1866.

1884

The coming of the railroad (1884) and the concurrent development of hardrock mines, lumbering and cattle ranches boosted Baker into the position of distribution center for the area.

1891

That school, with its first graduating class in 1891, established educational patterns which were widely adopted in the Northwest including the vocational classes, music, drama, athletics, and a well-rounded curriculum.

1954

Originally built in 1954 as the first African-American high school in Baker County, Mr.

1989

By 1989, the campus was reorganized to serve all the 4th and 5th grade students of Baker County and remains that way today.

2014
