Bakers and Baker Helpers



General Summary


The primary responsibility of the Bakers Helper is to assist co-workers with the proper functioning of the Pastry Shop. This included movement of products to storage locations, from production areas and into pastry shop, and assembly and decoration of pastry items. Includes working with the team to facilitate packaging needs of both front and back of house.


Essential Job functions:


  • Transport, store and actively manage Food safety of product in a timely manner.
  • Monitors and assists with restocking display cases
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary station and dining room.
  • Make sure all areas are clean and free of debris.
  • Assists with pastry shop and production bakery with production, assembly and decoration of products



Performance Requirements:
(knowledge, skills, and abilities)

  • Knowledge of food and beverage products.
  • Ability to perform basic/intermediate math skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with guests, staff and management.
  • Knowledge, understanding and compliance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels and other instructions.



Job Specifications


  • Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
  • Must present a neat and professional appearance.
  • Work requires interactions with customers, public and co-workers.
  • Work requires teamwork with other staff members.



Physical and Mental demands:


  • Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform reaching and stooping motions repeatedly.
  • Visual ability needed to accurately measure ingredients, prepare recipes, or check for cleanliness.
  • Requires standing, walking, and lifting a minimum of 60lbs repeatedly.



Education:


  • High School education or equivalent.



Working Conditions


  • Fast paced environment, multiple tasks to be handled under time constraint. Must be able to handle a heavy business volume, and sensitive situations relating to staff and guest problems, in a timely manner. Shifts may vary based on business needs. Must be able to handle intoxicated guests in a professional manner. Must be able to tolerate secondary tobacco smoke.
