There are two music positions open at this time. Please indicate in the application if you have campus preferences.
1. KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy on our McDuff campus and serves grades 5-8.
2. KIPP Impact Academy on our 103rd St campus and serves K-2 students and 6-8 students.
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks a certified and energetic band teacher at out K-8 schools. The teacher will lead daily music instruction across multiple grade levels. They will also be responsible for leading the band. KIPP Jacksonville is committed to providing a quality music education that will complement our rigorous academic program. This is a full time position and will directly report to school administration and work closely in our existing specials department. Relevant certification should be indicated in the appropriate section of the application.
All teachers are responsible for creating a positive environment for their students, implementing and creating curriculum, assessing students, building relationships with our families, collaborating with their team and other duties as assigned. The music program is also responsible for periodic performances and assessments. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader.
For the 2022-23 school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools (K-8) will work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.
OUR CURRENT MODEL
The specials schedule is subject to change and can vary from school to school. The specials team consists of up to seven teachers for the entire school, depending on the size of the school. Each specials teacher instructs students across multiple grade levels.
Depending on the specials area subject, the teacher may travel to classrooms or have students transition to their own classroom space. Class size is typically ~26 students and typically a teacher will see a class about twice per week in a given rotation.
