Verify and initiate all physician orders for Respiratory Care.
Demonstrate competency and working knowledge of all Respiratory Care instruments and equipment. Perform troubleshooting, problem resolution and proper disinfection/sterilization.
Initiate, monitor and maintain oxygen/aerosol delivery devices and non-invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation devices.
Perform effective airway management including oral/nasal airway placement, bag/mask ventilation, intubation and/or intubation assistance, emergent and scheduled tracheostomy tube changes. Demonstrate safe and appropriate suction techniques and use of artificial airways. Initiate and perform "CPR".
Perform tracheostomy, endotracheal tube and oral care.
Implement one way speaking valve trials per physician order.
Assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures.
Complete initial and ongoing decannulation risk assessments with appropriate interventions and documentation.
Perform and document timely Spontaneous Breathing Trial assessments for weaning readiness. Initiate and advance mechanical ventilator weaning per protocol.
Actively participate in the multidisciplinary early patient mobility program

POSITION SUMMARY

Implementation of exercise programs including fitness assessments and orientation for target audience and ensures overall satisfaction of
members. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
General Functions:
* Assesses, develops and monitors exercise programs for members to ensure quality, documentation
and follow-up
* Interacts with members to ensure exercise appropriateness and comfort levels and overall
satisfaction
* Monitors and documents vital signs for members as needed
* Maintains expertise in Trifit and Technogym equipment software
* Monitors fitness training area and ensures a comfortable and safe exercise experience for all
members
* Ensures cleanliness and operational quality of fitness equipment and facilities
* Serves as Manager On Duty whenever upper management is not on site
* Assists physical therapy department when needed in exercise supervision of patients
* Assists Customer Service Associates with tour, informed consent and risk stratification as needed
* Supports an participates in activities in support of the HealthLink vision
* Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of member retention programs and
fitness incentive programs
* Monitors the group exercise program including scheduling equipment and staffing of contract
instructors
* Serves as the senior advisor for the SilverSneaker program
* Assists in preparation of the newsletter and submits to HealthLink Director
* Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
* Maintains safe environment
* Participates in Performance Improvement activities
Qualifications:
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science or related experience. Course work in fitness
program development required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Course work in customer services
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Working experience in commercial, corporate fitness center.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Track record of working with senior populations, injured or diseased populations.
Proven track record of professional involvement is helpful.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Certified Personal Trainer
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: ACSM Health Fitness Instructor or equivalent recommended.
Willingness to obtain further credentials a must.

Position Summary
A Respiratory Therapy Extern is defined as a person who is a full time student in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program and works at the hospital in addition to their clinical studies.
