Purpose:

This role is an early-career entry point to a client coverage focused career in an origination unit of Corporate and Investment Banking. The Associate will support WCS Relationship Managers ("RMs") and will provide client management functions. The Associate role will require regular interaction with clients and internal partners: however, there is a large body of specific product information that can only be learned on the job. Primary Job Responsibilities:
Support Working Capital Solutions Origination
* The Associate is an integral member of a client-focused origination team and will support RMs to meet client requirements, identify new business opportunities, and assist in execution of the WCS strategy.
* Reporting to the Director - Structured Trade & Export Finance in [Toronto/New York], the Associate will help develop business with a portfolio of corporate clients across multiple sectors, as well as provide direct client management functions.
* Proactively identify and originate Working Capital Solutions opportunities including Trade Receivables and Trade Payables Finance along with the senior WCS RMs and the corporate and investment banking RMs.
* Contribute to the design, development, implementation and running of working capital analysis models and sectorial research to support commercial efforts.
* Run profitability analysis, draft business opportunity memorandums.
* Keep an organized tracking of the origination activity with adequate reporting.
* Identify opportunities for cross-sell GTB products, and collaborating with GTB colleagues to pursue the opportunity.
* Contribute to product development initiatives, identification of incremental sales opportunities.
* Review financial statements and leverage credit tools to understand clients' requirements.

* Develop relationships with key internal business partners: CIB, GTB, Debt Capital Markets ("DCM"), Public Finance Bond Desk, Leveraged Finance, Asset Securitization, CIB Credit, Trade Finance / Credit Lending Operations.
* Work closely with WCS colleagues in Toronto and New York.
Relationship Development
* Structure solutions for clients along with WCS RM, negotiate terms with clients. Work with legal counsel on documentation.
* Prepare presentations and discussion materials/term sheets.
* Arrange / engage in client calls and preparation of call reports.
* Collaborate with product partners including Asset Securitization, DCM, Derivatives, FX, Rates, ensuring appropriate presentation contribution.
* Support deal communication with CIB relationship managers.
Assist in Closing New Business
* Coordinate with other teams to ensure a seamless handling of deals, incl. Trade Finance Product, Trade Finance Operations, Risk, Legal etc.
* Assist WCS RMs with review and negotiation of facility documentation with clients.
