Responsible for handling and balancing cash daily, answering customer inquiries pertaining to various services, making customer referrals and influencing the overall efficiency and service level of the retail services area. General Qualifications
Knowledge: High school graduate (or GED) with familiarity of the Bank's products and services. Bank specific training and/or courses are beneficial. Must posesses proven math and/or accounting knowledge and possess the ability to interact effectively with customers and recognize cross-sell and other marketing opportunities for making referrals to other lines of business.
Experience: A minimum of one year of cash handling experience in a retail environment with proven math aptitude, is preferred. Previous banking experience, proficiency in using bank-related computer systems, data entry and retrieval, is preferred.
Skills: Well-developed and professional human relations skills, ability to work in pressure situations under close supervision, and general math/accounting and administrative skills are necessary. Proficiency with using bank-related computer systems and equipment is preferred. Multi-tasking skills are preferred.
Scope of Decisions and Authority: Upon completion of training, the CSR will be responsible for a cash drawer (with specified limit) and may issue bank checks up to a specified limit. Customer Service Representative has a restricted check cashing limit. Failure to cash checks for qualified Bank customers, or cashing checks without determining the financial responsibility of the customer could result in negative business impact. Work is performed following established policies and procedures.
ADA Requirements: Vision, hearing, speech, concentration, learning, thinking, interaction with others, the ability to exercise self-control, the ability to work under stressful conditions, particularly in customer relations are necessary. Must possess a valid NC Drivers' License, as travel to other offices may be required.

This position works 30-34 hrs/week

Perform other branch specific tasks as defined by the Banking Center Manager or the Assistant Banking Center Manager.
Process loose coin and maintain the coin machine.
Facilitates cash shipments/orders
Assist in balancing vault and ATM cash.
Order branch supplies as required by branch activities.
Assist customers in entering their safe deposit boxes.
Log activity and customer interaction in Synapsys
Liaison to special projects.
Training: (Training required to be fully proficient in this position)
Computer/Software training.
Product specific training (e.g. IRA's).
Quality customer service, including telephone etiquette.
Bank security.

Each Banking Associate must possess well refined verbal and written communications skills to effectively and efficiently execute their duties. Effective communication with subordinates, management, and customers will greatly impact the success of the branch.
Knowledge and Skills: (Any academic levels, years of experience or required skill)
Proficiency in the above listed "training" requirements will be expected of each Banking Associate. Due to differences in personal experiences and education levels, these skills will be evaluated on an individual basis. Each Banking Associate will be required to pass a product proficiency exam annually and adhere to teller balancing standard requirements.

Depending upon the role of the Banking Associate, the majority of the day is generally spent at either the teller window or at a desk. The BA position requires the ability to move about the office and continuously operate a computer and other office machinery. In addition, some duties require the ability to move 45lbs.
