The Department of General Surgery at the University of Arizona and Banner University Medical Group are actively seeking a General Surgeon to provide a full range general surgery practice with focus on complex abdominal wall/hernia at its Tucson and South campus locations. The Division of General Surgery, Department of Surgery, is a dynamic environment offering comprehensive and multidisciplinary surgical and medical care for our patients. Our Surgeons provide the best in patient care, resident and medical student education and training, and extensive community and academic endeavors.
The department is seeking a general surgeon with focus on minimally invasive surgery and passion for complex abdominal wall reconstruction to join the Department of Surgery. The qualified candidate should be Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery.
Fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery with focus on abdominal wall surgery and robotic surgery preferred
Previous experience is preferred
Demonstrates ability in both evidence of clinical and didactic teaching
Demonstrates ability working with diverse patient populations
Leadership in service and outreach
Essential Functions:
Perform a variety of general and abdominal wall hernia surgeries on an inpatient and outpatient basis
Hold general surgery outpatient clinics at various locations in the Tucson area.
Serve as a clinical advisor to medical students and residents via lectures, didactics, mentoring and clinical instruction
Take night and weekend call as needed
Conduct research appropriate to academic medicine
The candidate selected will have the opportunity to develop a full-time clinical practice, educate residents and medical students and be encouraged to participate in clinical and/or basic science research and will have a faculty appointment.

The provider must have an excellent bedside manner and the ability to relate and empathize with their patients. The role focuses on pre-op/post-op patient care, limb salvage, palliative foot care (may treat patients with orthotics), and medical skin nail care, as well as minor vascular issues. We are looking for someone who is interested in a long-term practice position who will establish a good reputation and investment in the community and has the ability to collaborate with colleagues and work independently when needed.

Minimum Requirements:
Current PA Board Certification, DEA license, and BLS certification are required.
Relevant wound care and diabetic care experience preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
Experience and training in diabetic foot care, amputation wound prevention, and proper shoe wear preferred, but willing to train the ideal candidate.
Limb Salvage Surgery experience is preferred but not required.
