As we prepare to open the doors to Charleston's newest luxury destination, we are seeking an experienced and motivated BanquetServer to join our culinary team.
JOB OVERVIEW
The BanquetServer will set up the banquet room and serve food and/or beverages in a friendly, courteous and professional manner according to Tara Hospitality's high standards of quality.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up banquet room as instructed by Supervisor to include linen, service ware and glassware.
Attend roll call meetings before events to learn functionalities, including guest and hotel expectations.
Greeting guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
Serve the food and/or beverage in order and to the expectation of the Supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet. Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function.
Identify customer special dietary needs and special requests and properly communicate such needs to the kitchen staff
Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
Once the banquet is complete, reset banquet room according to Supervisor's specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
Knowledge of federal, state, and local liquor laws
Verbal and written ability to communicate effectively in English
Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware
Self-starting personality with an even disposition
Effectively able to work in a team environment
Superior customer service and interpersonal skills
Tips Trained and Food Handlers certification are required; training will be provided as needed.
Must be able to work flexible shifts that includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities
Reviews assigned banquet staff functions, banquet menus prior to the scheduled event.
Conducts pre-banquet meetings with staff to: ensure appearance and hygiene standards are being met; assign stations and partners; and review banquet event orders.
Communicates with the Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager or event coordinator to ensure that all details have been planned for and met. Ensures that changes and further instructions are made in a timely manner.
Ensures that appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available for upcoming events. Secure requisitions for those items not available in inventory.
Checks room set-up prior to event and meets with Executive Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
Ensures proper handling of all equipment (i.e. china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props) and their proper storage after use.
Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service. Ensures that: food is served at appropriate temperature; food is placed properly on the table; sufficient food is available; and up sell opportunities are met.
Regularly reviews banquet schedule for changes, calendar of events, and special events.
Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
Must meet state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages.

Responsibilities
* Reviews assigned banquet staff functions, banquet menus prior to the scheduled event.

* Communicates with the Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager or event coordinator to ensure that all details have been planned for and met. Ensures that changes and further instructions are made in a timely manner.

* Checks room set-up prior to event and meets with Executive Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
* Ensures proper handling of all equipment (i.e. china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props) and their proper storage after use.
* Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service. Ensures that: food is served at appropriate temperature; food is placed properly on the table; sufficient food is available; and up sell opportunities are met.
* Regularly reviews banquet schedule for changes, calendar of events, and special events.
* Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
* Regular and reliable attendance.
* Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
