The pharmacy technician prepares and distributes medications under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, supervisor, and/or director/manager of pharmacy services, the Pharmacy Technician II - Inpatient performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and intravenous admixture program. This position is responsible to maintain confidential reports, enter and retrieve data utilizing the computer system, prepare intravenous medication, assists in all aspects of labeling and preparation of medication, assists with management of inventory including receiving and storing medication as well as preparation and delivery of narcotics, data collection related to medication center review and quality improvement, assists in monitoring and management of emergency carts through the hospital, fill automated medication dispensing system with a supply of unit dose medications, procure, and fill requests for pharmaceutical supplies and deliver supplies to nursing units.
