What you will be doing?
Responsible for assisting with training clients in basic foodservice skills and positive work behaviors, to enhance their independence and prepare them for community employment. Implement hot lunch program for CDS Clients in Aurora and Elgin locations and assist in Food Truck program.

Essential Job Responsibilities
Train clients in foodservice skills using verbal instruction and demonstration using a client-centered approach. This includes at minimum cooking class during day programs, Hot Lunch program and Food Truck program. Other programs as instructed by Supervisor.
Provide training to Residential Staff in the areas of basic cooking, meal planning and nutrition under the guidance of the Licensed Dietician.
Provide instruction/training as defined in the clients' Individual Plans to assist in developing foodservice and life skills, including in areas of health promotion and positive behaviors
Maintain accurate documentation of client programming
Develop a nutritionally sound menu to use as a teaching tool
Develop and follow a daily cleaning schedule to maintain kitchen and attached room
Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with agency and Public Health standards
Know and follow the AID policies and procedures
Familiarity with rules and standards of all regulatory bodies including but not limited to DHS, CARF, OSHA, HFS, DPH, Fire and Safety Codes
Complete following trainings:
DSP within 120 days of hire
Maintain current Certification in CPR and FA
Maintain current Certification in CPI
OIG Rule 50 training on first day and annually
HIPAA, Infection Control, and Hazard Communication annually

JOB TITLE: Kitchen Assistant / Dishwasher DEPARTMENT: Dietary REPORTS TO: Sr. FoodService Director HOURS: 12pm - 8:30pm Tuesday - Saturday STATUS: Full time Responsible for preforming a variety of duties in the Dietary Department to insure the area is kept clean and all services are accomplished in a customer friendly environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* To ensure adequate supply of clean utensils and dishes and pots and pans for use.
* Scrap trays, soak dishes, utensils, and assemble dish machine.
* Operate an industrial dishwasher.
* Set up and wash pots and pans.
* Removal of trash from kitchen.
* Operate an industrial dishwasher.
* To ensure proper safety and sanitation guidelines are used.
* Perform opening and closing side work.
* Clean up spills or broken glassware immediately.
* To provide quality food to residents, visitors, employees and guests in a timely manner.
* Making tea and coffee, cleaning coffee machines in health care.
* Working on tray line, setting up the trays with utensils, napkins, condiments, read and call out the diet cards, some bending over for tray and lifting up to 10 pounds.
* Putting plates, desserts, and drink on tray then put on cart, some bending is required as well
* Cleaning area and putting away milk and juice.
* Empty and clean tea urns and coffee pots.
* Pick up trays and trash from floor
* Assist with sweeping and mopping the floor.
* Must be able to lift trash cans.
* Reports all unusual conditions, behaviors, and/or resident reactions to the appropriate Licensed personnel in a timely manner.
* Responds and reacts in a kind, polite, and professional manner to residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and supervision.
* Responsible for protecting any confidential information concerning residents, family, and/or the organization.
* Must demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to all Safety procedures and facility Fire, Disaster, and Bomb Threat procedures.
* Adheres to all organizational, departmental, and nursing procedures in the performance of position responsibilities.
* Must attend organizational or departmental conferences and/or in-services as scheduled.
* Report any sanitation or janitorial issues to the appropriate party.
* May be required to perform other duties in keeping with the nature of this position which will not significantly alter the job requirements
Specific Requirements:
* Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant it.
* Able to read, write and speak English in an understandable manner.
* Able to manage time, multiple tasks, and projects.
Education and/or Experience:
* High School Diploma/GED preferred.
* One or more years of experience in foodservice preferred.

**This position is responsible for supervising all Food & Beverage department staff, managing the department budget, and complying with applicable federal, state and local laws & regulations.**
Our Food and Beverage Coordinator:

Directs daily operation of dining room and kitchen.
Maintains quality assurance program, such as inspecting and sampling food quality, quantity, temperature as well as appearance of meals.
Checks meals during service to ensure they are served in an appetizing matter and in accordance with residents' diet and/or food preference.
Practices positive resident relations by introducing himself or herself to new residents upon move-in and by responding promptly and positively to requests or complaints.
Orders and maintains appropriate inventory of foods and non-food supplies; manages receiving, storage, and rotation of food and supplies inventory in accordance with established guidelines. Promptly submits invoices to the Business Office for payment processing.
Develops and monitors inventory controls. Regularly audits inventory on hand (at least one a month).
Maintains minimal food waste by using proper food storage and food recycling techniques. Ensures proper disposal of food and waste.
Ensures prompt repair of equipment or obtains authorization for purchase of new equipment as necessary.
Coordinates and executes special event catering.
Maintains record of and compiles reports pertaining to menus, number of meals served, food and other departmental costs, personnel attendance records, repair of dietary equipment. Computes monthly food cost report as required.
Acts as facility's representative during health department inspections; assures compliance and follows-up to ensure deficiencies are immediately corrected
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior successful foodservice management experience specific to assisted living, retirement housing, long-term care or related environments preferred.
Degree and/or certification from culinary institute preferred.
Holds/obtains applicable local, state, otherwise required food handling/sanitation licenses and/or certifications.
SERV-SAFE certified desired or as required by State.
CPR/First Aid certified a plus.
