It is expected that the person in this position seeks excellence in their own work, ever mindful of Baptist Life Communities ministry under the profound influence of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. BASIC PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to perform general facilities maintenance, technical, and operational duties for facility buildings and grounds at the Baptist Life Communities' The Village@Erlanger campus. This position responds to maintenance issues as needed as well as performing routine duties such as preventative maintenance on equipment, mowing, snow removal, fire prevention and safety issues with all equipment in compliance with regulatory guidelines for maintaining standards for nursing facilities. Duties: JOB DUTY NUMBER RELATIVE WEIGHT % JOB DUTIES** I. 15 Mission: Respects and presents adherence to the Mission and Ministry of Baptist Life Communities as described in the core values of this position. Baptist Life Communities encourages the employees to share their feelings and/or opinions of the operations and mission of their position with their supervisors and/or facility administrators, but to present a unity with the Baptist Life Communities in their dealings with those outside the Communities. II. 10 Safety: Follows Baptist Life Communities and Baptist Village policies and maintains high standards of safe work performance. Attendance: Maintains a good attendance record as set forth in Baptist Life Communities policies and administered by the site Administrator. Punctuality: Maintains integrity of meeting times, work times and break times to insure that their functions in the facility are fulfilled to always enhance the quality of life for our residents and clients. III. 75 Duties as defined by the Director of Maintenance as applicable. Director and/or Administrator shall assign duties as required for operation of facility. The basic job duties are listed below and include; but are not limited to, the following: Painting: Paint rooms and apartments when residents move out. Do touch-up painting of hallways, doors and frames, etc. General Maintenance: perform routine maintenance on facility equipment to ensure ongoing operation according to the manufacturer's specifications. Such maintenance may include inspecting, performing systems check, lubricating, monitoring gauges and temperatures, adjusting tolerances, cleaning equipment, etc. Grounds maintenance: Mow and trim grass, shrubbery, trees, mulch, and pull weeds. Keep mowers serviced and in good running condition. Must be available and on call at all times when snow is predicted. This person must report in at 5:00a.m. on regularly scheduled days to shovel and salt main visitor, resident, and employee entrances on the entire campus. Person must be able to report to different locations within the Baptist Life Communities system as required. May be called in by the Maintenance Director to work on non-scheduled days other than described above. Any call in for non-worked days must be called in to the Maintenance Director by use of his cell phone number. Limited HVAC: routine maintenance of heat and AC units. Basic repair of units when break down occurs. Do PM checks and cleaning Maintain coolers, freezers, ice machines and boilers Other: Shall respond to after normal shift calls in the event of emergency that cannot be handled by the other department staff on site at the time of the event. (Where Applicable) Annual objectives are developed, weighted and attached to employee performance appraisals. EDUCATION, SPECIALIZED AND/OR TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: High school education or equivalent with experience or technical education equivalent to an associate's degree in business, or specific technical training equivalents JOB REQUIREMENTS: Physical Requirements: Please check the activities that apply to this position and their level of frequency. Use the following scale where 1 = Rarely, 2 = Occasionally, 3 = Frequently, 4 = Consistently. Maintains medication cart in a clean and orderly condition. Receives and handles medications delivered from the pharmacy and orders refill medication from pharmacy as needed per facility policy. Maintains resident clinical records per facility policy. Obtains and documents resident vital signs as assigned. Notifies the unit charge nurse of any abnormal resident findings, including but not limited to physical, psychosocial and/or spiritual issues. Assists the unit charge nurse with resident admissions, transfers and discharges as necessary. Assists with orientation of new personnel as directed. Completes shift functions of the unit as assigned, including but not limited to obtaining periodic weights of each individual resident on the assigned unit. Assist with resident meals including passing trays or providing service of food to residents in dining rooms, feeding dependent residents, collecting trays and documenting meal consumption per facility policy. Reports any allegations of abuse, neglect, exploitation or misappropriation of resident property per facility policy. Gives report and documents transfer of medication cart keys to the oncoming shift. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to the practice of nursing in a long-term care setting. Should the employee not attain state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) / State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) within 120 days, the temporary position with Baptist Life Communities will be terminated. Should that happen, the employee may apply for another open position for which he/she is qualified; however, there is no guarantee of continued employment if the employee does not attain certification within the 120 days allowed. The purpose of this position is to receive in-person, classroom, online, and book training to learn and perform the essential functions of a CNA/STNA in order to pass the required state CNA/STNA test and attain certification. Prior to and during the training, the employee will also provide delivery of care (other than direct care) as described on each individual resident's Nurse Assistant care plan and as directed per Resident Assistant standards prior to completion of the nurse aide training class. This includes; but is not limited to, maintaining the resident's room in a tidy, orderly condition with respect to the individual resident's rights and preferences, serving resident meals and nourishments, collecting meal trays at end of meal, transporting residents within the facility, completing and documenting all tasks as directed on the individual resident's care plan. Care plans may include such tasks as recording meal intake, BM records, intake and output, temperatures and weights, maintaining the required annual 12 continuing education hours, reporting unusual occurrences for each resident to the unit charge nurse and assisting with other tasks as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS Knowledge of current federal and state laws and regulations that apply to a long term care setting. Has strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities. Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
