Baptist Village Communities company history timeline

1958

In April 1958 the first five residents came to live on the Waycross campus.

1964

The building of the B Unit apartments, the administrative, Residents’ Service Center, and the first phase of the nursing center followed in 1964.

1986

The Corporate Office Building, the Apartment Resident Center, new kitchen for the nursing center, resident services area, and gift shop were completed in 1986.

1995

Also in 1995, came the Long House in Erlanger, a part of BLC’s growing senior living community.

1996

In 1996 Baptist Village Retirement Communities acquired an assisted living facility in Lake Park, Georgia.

1999

In 1999 independent living facilities named The Plantation Villas were constructed in Macon.

BLC decided to add a type of senior living option that focuses on maintenance free living in 1999.

2001

Plantation Suites, an assisted living facility, was constructed in Macon and opened in 2001.

BLC’s next investment in seniors was to expand into Boone County in 2001 and developed another maintenance free living in rural Burlington called Griesser Farm.

2003

In October of 2003 the Trustees unanimously elected Mr.

2004

He was elected to serve a transition period until the retirement of J. Olan Jones on December 31, 2004.

2020

Sharpton retired on January 3, 2020, and Doctor Mathison assumed the position of President/CEO.
