Baristas serve as members of the Student Union staff and can be cross-trained on Information Desk duties. Prior work experience as a barista, in customer service, and in sales and cash handling is preferred but not required of candidates for this position. This student staff position is 10-15 hours/week and starts at $11.88/hour. Preference will be given to students with flexible hours and availability to meet scheduling needs: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 3:30 pm. To thrive in this role a successful candidate would have prior work experience as a barista and prior customer service experience. Prior sales and cash handling experience would also be beneficial. Skills that would be needed are the ability to perform customer service with training, ability to handle sales and cash with training, ability to prepare coffee and other beverages with training, ability to carry out assigned tasks and projects with supervision, and the ability to exercise patience, focus, and understanding in stressful situations.
