Job Summary
We are looking for part-time Baristas to join our growing team at Mothership Coffee & Sunrise Coffee! As a Barista you will be taking orders, preparing and serving hot and cold beverages with exceptionally trained skill, and serving select food items to our guests. In this role you will educate guests on the drink menu, make recommendations based on the customer's preferences, and up-sell special menu items. The ideal barista is extremely focused on creating the most excellent cup of coffee with meticulous attention to detail surrounded by the background noise of a happy, busy cafe.
Duties/Responsibilities
Prepares and serves hot and cold beverages to guests, such as: coffee, blended coffee, and tea; correctly customizes orders as requested.
Describes product details to guests when requested.
Receives and processes guest payments.
Serves prepared foods and baked goods including sandwiches, muffins, or bagels.
Ensures customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products or beverage preparation items.
Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dishes, and work areas.
Cleans and sanitizes service and seating areas.
Ensures proper functioning of freezers, refrigerators, and heating components by routinely checking temperatures in that equipment.
Stocks supplies or retail products; may be required to manage inventory orders, or receive products as directed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow all safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices.
Must be able to perform basic math.
Good memory to manage multiple orders simultaneously and recall faces, names, and preferences of regular guests.
Ability to serve guests quickly, efficiently, and kindly.
Reliable method of transportation to our Mothership Coffee Roasters Downtown Fergusons location.
Education and Experience
High School diploma or equivalent, required.
Worked as a Barista or in food service is a plus.
Training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
