Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more. Velo Coffee in the Financial District at the Fig at 7th building in Los Angeles, CA is looking for PART-TIME and FULL TIME baristas to join our team. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, motivated, and reliable. Ideal candidates live within walking distance/public transportation to downtown LA. Responsibilities Prepare hot and cold drinks in accordance with customer needs in a timely manner. Maintain a clean and tidy work area. Prep small food items. Follow health and safety guidelines Interact in a friendly manner. Weekend ability and comfortable to work alone during slower periods. Ability to cover shifts. Qualifications Works or has worked at a coffee shop with experience in dialing in espresso and familiar with more traditional style drinks. Must drink coffee / espresso (you're going to be tasting and adjusting espresso specs throughout your shift). High integrity and with a great attendance record. Strong attention to detail. Ability to listen and communicate effectively as well as accept feedback in a productive manner. Able to work alone and manage stress levels during busy times. Clean and organized. Working with a sense of urgency also comes with being able to work in high-stress moments without it affecting your demeanor. When people are frustrated and visibly upset, you can make everyone else around you uncomfortable (customers and employees). We won't tolerate any aggressive, mean-spirited, passive-aggressive actions while at work. Things like slamming a milk pitcher on the counter, or having some 'tude with a fellow employee. We don't want people to not want to come to work because of someone else and it will be handled quickly without many chances. GENUINE connection with customers.
