    The job of the Motorhand is to safely and efficiently ensure that the regular preventative maintenance and repair activities for the generators, main engines, air compressors, portable water system, drill water manifold and pumps, and cold start air compressors occur in a timely manner to prevent downtime and ensure the efficient and continual functioning of the mechanical equipment used in the operation of the drilling rig. The Motorhand works under the direction of the Rig Manager. Ability to perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations Minimum of 3 months experience as a Floorhand for Nabors Drilling USA or 6 months experience as a Motorhand for another drilling company Ability to successfully complete Motorhand training at the NDUSA training center Ability to wear respiratory protective devices Ability to complete the essential functions of Floorhand duties when needed Must have reliable transportation to and from the rig Perform regular rounds where he / she will look, listen and feel the equipment Anticipate problems that may occur and implement corrective action to prevent problems from developing. When problems are found, analyze the problem area and problem solve / implement a solution to resolve the issue and keep the system operational Ensure that fuel and oil transfers are performed in a safe manner while complying with all state, federal and company rules and regulations as they pertain to this area of the drilling industry Assist the Mechanic with major mechanical problems and repairs that he / she does not have the expertise to complete Along with the Rig Manager and Driller, provide supervision and direction to the Floorhands and Derrickhand during rig up / down procedures Provide relief on the drill floor for the Floorhands, and when trained the Derrickhand and Driller Operate the forklift to offload / back load / relocate equipment, pipe, tubulars, casings, ect.EssentialFunctions: Attention span to stay alert and attentive for up to 12 hour tour while performing sometimes repetitive and monotonous tasks Able to works 7 or 14 days on and 7 or 14 days off, including holidays, weekends and or days and nights Able to receive verbal and written instructions Must be able to stand and walk for a minimum of 4 hours at any one time, including standing and walking on steel decking as well as gravel, board roads and mud, snow and ice Must be able to independently lift / handle items that weigh upwards of 115 lbs(pull slips), lift / handle 100 lbs and hand tools, including 16 lbs - 20 lbs sledge hammers, throughout the shift. This position is responsible for providing supervision of students and student workers in the management of the English equestrian program and the care of their horses. This includes the daily supervision of horse management, barn chores, inspecting horses for disease and injury, treatment of horses and the administration of medicines, facilitating rehabilitation exercise programs of horses, veterinarian and farrier scheduling, and setting feed rations for the horses. Responsible for the appearance of the barns and maintaining professional levels of cleanliness. Also maintains the feed, medicine, and supply inventory. Acts as liaison between the students and veterinarians and assists veterinarians and farriers with services. Essential Functions This position requires regular, as scheduled, reliable attendance in the campus environment. 1. Assist and support student learning and success when requested by the faculty or the director of the program and when such requests do not conflict with completion of other tasks. 2. Provide monthly nutritional evaluations for each horse to maintain the appropriate energy needs of the horse along with proper body condition. 3. Evaluate sick, lame, and injured horses and schedule veterinary appointments for those requiring veterinarian evaluations. 4. Prepare weekly farrier schedules, veterinary appointments and barn related work study lists. 5. Provide daily correspondence with the Business Manager and the Instructional staff concerning barn related concerns and daily horse updates (horse vet results, horse injuries/illnesses, etc.). 6. Ensure that the horses receive their daily medications, therapy, etc. and the treatments are recorded. 7. Lead students and break workers in maintaining a high level of cleanliness and organization in the barns. Perform barn chores as necessary to maintain a professional appearance. 8. Work with Farm Business Manager on hay, grain, and sawdust inventories and coordinate deliveries. 9. Participate in instructing and grading students in the proper care of the horse including feeding, stall cleaning, sheath cleaning, clipping/grooming, trailer loading, weekend barn responsibilities, body scoring, etc. 10. Supervise and monitor all non-riding barn activities of the students while at the farm. 11. Schedule and assist weekend supervisors and barn assistants with weekend duties. 12. Oversee the care of donation horses that come in for a two week trial. Ensure that the donation process moves along swiftly so that the Instructional evaluation and Veterinary evaluation are completed within the two week period. 13. Correspond with Farm Business Manager, instructors, students and clients about sicknesses, lameness and farrier concerns. 14. Assist with the running of collegiate horse shows. 15. Hire, schedule, and supervise workers and oversee horse and facility care during the holiday and summer breaks. 16. Identify and perform facility maintenance when needed. 17. Respond to situations requiring intervention when on call during the evening/overnight hours or weekend. 18. Perform all tasks necessary to ensure efficient operation of the farm as directed by the Farm Business Manager. 19. Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for this position. Frequently “drop and hook” trailers during tomato season. Load, transport, and dump manure from horse or dairy farms to our compost facility using dump trucks or semi truck and trailer combinations Deliver compost from the compost facility to customer sites and farm fields using appropriate vehicles ? Haul grain to and from the Farm and various grain facilities, including unloading trailers (manual crank handle) ? Deliver palletized loads of seed or grain using van trailers, flatbed trucks, or pickup with flatbed trailers Farm Equipment and General Support Rotate vehicles and equipment to and from shops, performing maintenance and Department of Transportation (DOT) as needed General support for all team members Fleet Maintenance Maintain stock of truck parts and consumables including fluid, bulbs, spare houses, etc. ? Schedule routine fleet maintenance and coordinate repairs with the Hirzel Transfer Fleet Manager as needed ? Certain designated days, this role will also support the Farm & Garden Manager in all aspects of production and operation of the Farm and Garden. Prior work experience at Esalen is preferred. Candidates that have graduated from Esalen's 3 month REEP program or a current staff member who has been employed for at least three months will be given top consideration. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Clean and maintain the seminarian rooms and meeting rooms Clean and maintain assigned public areas and the baths Work cooperatively with team and communicate kindly Process laundry and stock inventory Assist in the training and orientation of new stewards Be a team liaison to other Departments such as the Office, the Gate,Healing Arts, Programs, and Maintenance Reliable and timely attendance - this position works on-site Maintain and inspect equipment Move furniture when required Support the Lodging Experience Manager and Lead(s) with any operational needs Harvest a variety of crops and wash/pack (3 times per week) Compost, including mechanized turning Bed preparations and plantings Soil cultivation and weeding Irrigation of annual and perennial crops at both the farm and garden Nursery management, including weekly sowings and daily watering Mechanical cultivation with tractor implements Support production of value added Farm & Garden products; which may include fermented foods and herbal medicines. Assist development of packaging, material acquisition, and coordination with retail outlets for delivery and display. Leading and directing crews ranging from 2-8 people with a wide range of experience and backgrounds, from one-time volunteers with little to no experience to apprentices who are 6 months into a 12 month program. QUALIFICATIONS Adapt to a new work environment socially and physically. Integrate emotional work while meeting demands of your weekly work schedule. Handle physical labor involving lifting, bending, being on feet for long periods of time, and maintain repetitive motions. Carrying heavy objects; loading/unloading bundles and equipment, loading/unloading industrial washing equipment, and stocking boxes of inventory. Ability to be detail oriented and organized. Ability to work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to handle a variety of cleaning products. Communicate well with others and be open to meeting new people at work. At least 6 months experience working in a production garden or equivalent training. Experience overseeing and directing work crews. An understanding of sustainable gardening principles and practices including soil health and fertility, irrigation systems, composting techniques, pest control, weed control etc. Working knowledge of organic crop production, including vegetables, flowers, and herbs, native and perennial crops. Working knowledge of creating and cultivating value added products such as; fermented foods and herbal medicines. Skilled in clear and authentic communication, including ability to share in and support personal sharing circles. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds in various situations. Demonstrated ability to safely lead and participate in physically demanding work on uneven terrain.
