Your Role: The Brighton Survey Group primarily supports infrastructure design, environmental, and land development projects for project managers situated in our Michigan and Ohio offices. Candidates can expect to learn and perform mapping-related tasks, both on field projects and in an office environment. Those hired will be trained to use some of the latest field surveying equipment, such as GPS, robotic total stations, LiDAR scanning units, and numerous software platforms to process data and produce digital models for each project. We are a department that highly values in-person, in-office teamwork, but also equips staff to work independently. * Operate GPS, total station, digital level, LiDAR scanner, and controllers for mapping/modeling of project sites. * Locate legal boundary-relevant features and compare with legal boundary records, such as surveys, plats, and deeds. * Perform staking of engineer-design features, such as roadway, utilities, sidewalks, structures, etc. * Build proficiency in software used to process field data, and 3d model project sites. * Assist in organization of project databases. Qualifications: * High school diploma, and valid driver's license * Surveying experience is a plus but not required. * Must be highly motivated, good at communication & organization, and able to both independently and as a team. Position Summary: As a Field Technician for Tetra Tech, you will be responsible for working on a variety of environmental projects related to environmental protection and remediation, primarily related to solid waste (landfills). The job duties involve collection of complete and usable data for construction activities at our client facilities. Primary responsibilities will be daily documentation of landfill construction projects, including landfill liners and gas collection systems. Required Qualifications: * High School diploma required. * 1-3 years' experience in environmental services or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. * Mechanical and technical aptitude and understanding of field equipment. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information orally and respond to questions from peers and supervisors. Good overall communication skills. * Basic math skills for addition, subtraction, division, multiplication. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. * To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, and other software as necessary to perform job functions. * Remote location in the upper Midwest; based out of Michigan is preferred. * Required to work the same schedule as contractor (various hours up to 60+ hours a week). Preferred Qualifications: * Associates degree in related field preferred. * Being a licensed professional land surveyor in Michigan is a plus but not required. Physical Requirements: * While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. * Required to stand and walk during field assignments, including walking on uneven terrain and steep slopes (3:1 or 2:1 grade). * Frequent use of hands for handling, reaching, typing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, speaking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. * Must be able to lift/move up to 10 lbs regularly, 25 lbs frequently, and 50+ lbs occasionally. * Requires specific vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. * Fieldwork may involve travel and exposure to outdoor environments; must be physically able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator when required. * An annual medical exam may be required based on the nature of the field assignment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Champion a strong safety culture across the site and maximize personnel involvement in safety-related activities. Act as the Owner's representative while interacting with contractors. Provide daily observations of on-site safety practices Provide timely, high-quality Safety technical support. Carry out regular workplace inspections to monitor compliance with site rules, procedures, etc. Coordinate the completion of job safety analyses, risk assessments and pre-task plans Prepare and submit local, State, and internal reports as needed. Review and track investigations of injuries, illnesses, environmental releases, non-injury accidents and near-misses to ensure that they are effective, and that they identify and resolve root causes. Lead investigations into serious adverse events. Monitor and analyze Safety performance and initiate action to support or correct trends. REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, engineering, or a related field is preferred. Minimum 5 years' experience with H&S in the construction industry, preferably with commercial/office building construction or large projects. CHST certification is a plus. Proficient with the management of high-risk activities, including electrical safety, excavation, confined spaces, fall protection, material handling, and rigging Experience in communicating and problem-solving as a team with subcontractors is required. A background and knowledge working with specific trades such as electricians, ironworkers, pipefitters, etc. is a plus. Understanding of the complexities of multi-employer worksites. Experienced trainer on construction safety topics and comfortable working with a wide variety of trades. Demonstrated experience conducting construction site safety audits and inspections. Experience conducting incident investigations and can follow reporting processes. Excellent written and verbal communicator who understands the importance of timely communications and reporting. Support client relationship management efforts by coaching and mentoring staff. - Practice effective business discipline across our business line to ensure proactive monitoring and project management related to resources, schedule, budget, and quality. - Identify and resolve project execution gaps (people, processes, and systems) in collaboration with leadership. - Provide accurate feedback and develop action plans to implement lessons learned, opportunities for improvement and industry best practices. - Support BC Leadership in resource management processes, recruitment, succession planning, and coaching/mentoring for PMs and Project Leaders. - Lead or support proposals as required. - Support mentorship and development of junior staff. - Achieve utilization target as agreed annually. Qualifications Your Capabilities and Credentials - Engineering design and construction experience with power plant projects. - Expertise in Project management including, team leadership, resource management, scheduling, project controls, reporting and document controls. - Strong leader and team player, collaborator, and communicator with strong interpersonal skills and experience in managing a team. - Project management experience in leading projects utilizing various delivery models such as EPC (Engineer Procure Construct), DBB (Design Bid Build), ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) etc. - Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering services related to energy projects. - Experience in business development, proposal, and budget development. - Demonstrated leadership competencies. - Strong organizational skills and ability to work across multiple offices and geographies. - Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify when a project is in trouble (e.g., deviations from baseline scope, schedule, or budget) and ability to take corrective action to address the problem. - Ability to travel to US and Canadian offices and client sites, as required. - Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizations skills and aptitude for problem solving. - Proficient in the Microsoft 365 platform including Teams and SharePoint with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel would being beneficial. - Must have good driving record and valid Driver's License. - Prior to employment with Stantec, this position may require the successful passing of a drug and alcohol screen.
