The role - what you'll do Barr is seeking a civilengineer to join our Hibbing, Minnesota, team. In this hybrid role, you will support the Engineering and Design civilengineering group with engineering design and analysis for site layout, grading, drainage, and mass earthwork.
A successful person in this role is motivated and emphasizes client service by providing quality deliverables. They enjoy working independently and as part of a team, using their expertise and technical skills to add to each project. They are flexible in working with their project teams and are willing to occasionally modify schedules to meet project deadlines and/or client needs. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and excellent organizational skills, including scheduling, prioritizing, and follow-up, are key to success. Additionally, this role requires the ability to effectively present technical information to diverse audiences.
Your impact - key responsibilities
* Design: completing site development designs.
* Reporting and presentation: providing written and oral technical guidance, preparing permit review summaries, and presenting findings to decision-making bodies.
* Technical analysis: performing calculations, conducting data analysis, and compiling technical reports.
About the opportunity
* Compensation: anticipated range of $70,000-85,000 annually. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. This position is classified exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
* Hybrid: a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Hibbing, Minnesota, office.
* Travel expectation: up to 10 percent domestic fieldwork.
* Work environment: ability to work in locations that feature the rough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment. Safety training will be provided prior to being given work assignments on these sites. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

* Education: bachelor's degree in civilengineering.
* Software: familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D experience. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF editing software.

- Locations in VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 88,300.00 - Max Salary $ 128,000.00
**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

This position requires the ability to handle multiple projects, interact with clients and government agencies, and effectively work with a team. Responsibilities include project management, permitting, design and preparation of civil site, grading, drainage, erosion control, and utility plans as well as design reports. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, embraces teamwork, and has the desire to grow and develop professionally.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Manage and lead technical work.
* Perform all aspects of design (grading, drainage, water, sewer, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.
* Prepare technical reports, concept designs, construction specifications, construction drawings, bidding documents, and permit applications for approvals.
* Participate in value engineering and prepare construction cost estimates.
* Participate in both private and public sector clients/projects.
* Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
* Participate in client management, business development, and proposal preparation.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
* Sound knowledge of industry practice and demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
* Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
* Understanding of all phases of engineering document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with attention to detail; time management skills.
* Direct experience in client management and business development is an asset.
* Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil3D, Hydrology / Hydraulic design software will be an asset. Experience and working knowledge in BlueBeam Revu, preferred.
* Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
* Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections, business development activities, etc. Travel for multiple days (overnight travel) on occasion for meetings and to support project teams in other offices may be required.
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
* Professional Engineer (PE) license in Minnesota or ability to obtain within 1 year.
* Minimum of 4 years of progressive civilengineering design experience.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

About you - required core competencies
