About you - required core competencies
Education: ongoing enrollment in an ABET-accredited geotechnical, civil (with a geotechnical emphasis), or geological engineering degree program and coursework or research related to advanced soil mechanics. Must have a minimum of one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate coursework remaining after the internship and have taken at least two semesters of physics and three semesters of mathematics.
Software: Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software.
Driver's license: possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to rent a vehicle for out-of-town assignments.

Internship - Water Resources Engineer (Hybrid)

The role - what you'll do Barr is seeking an engineering student to work on project teams involved with civil engineering, hydraulic and hydrologic design and analysis, and related technical activities. Typical project assignments may include basic engineering computations (e.g., area, volume, discharge rate) and technical analysis, including spreadsheet and GIS-based data analysis; design of structures; hydraulic and/or hydrologic model input data collection and preparation; technical writing; field data collection; mapping; and site surveys and construction observation.
A successful person in this role is motivated and emphasizes client service by providing quality deliverables. About the opportunity
* Timeline: This internship opportunity runs for approximately three months starting in the spring of 2026. Start and end dates are flexible to accommodate class schedules, finals, and holidays.
* Compensation: Anticipated range of $22.66-25.78/hour. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. This position is classified as non-exempt (hourly) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
* Hybrid: A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota office.

About you - required core competencies
