    Barrday has been manufacturing advanced technical fabrics for ballistic armor products in Charlotte since 2001. We are now opening a second facility at a new site in Charlotte to manufacture BarrMax. BarrMax (formerly Endumax) is a polyethylene tape product with incredible tenacity and stiffness properties, which makes it a natural addition to our product line. Its unique physical and chemical structure makes it - weight for weight - 11 times stronger than steel! The BarrMax production equipment has been relocated from Europe to our new facility in the Innovation Business Park. This state-of-the-art German manufacturing equipment is in the process of being reassembled and start-up trials will begin this summer with full production expected by the end of the year. We are looking for exceptional individuals to join us on the ground floor of this new endeavor. You will be part of creating a culture of respect and manufacturing excellence and as production increases, you will be teaching our new employees and could become a future leader in this facility. The work environment is outstanding: clean, bright, quiet, free of fumes and dust, and air conditioned. The business park has ample parking, two employee fitness centers, regular food trucks, a coffee shop, a convenience store and many more amenities. In the beginning, the work week will be a Monday to Friday day shift schedule, however, as production increases, it will become a rotating shift schedule to provide 24-hour coverage. Ideal candidate Personal Characteristics Excellent organizational skills: Keeps work area(s) neat, establishes and maintains locations for supplies and equipment, stocks work areas with essential supplies as they are depleted. Good problem solving and critical thinking skills: Needs to understand what each machine in the process is doing and how it can or will impact the product. Will need to make adjustments to the process using this understanding of the impacts. Collaboration and team-building skills: Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits. Need to be willing to cooperate and communicate to resolve issues. Need to be available to cover on and off shift handoff and breaks for other team-mates. Need to be willing to actively train new employees. Flexibility: This role will involve working in all areas of the plant and doing other tasks in addition to the primary job description. SUMMARY Individuals in this role will be part of the 3-4 person team responsible for operating the equipment that manufactures BarrMax tape. Key Responsibilities: -Operates all equipment related to the BarrMax tape making process including: Loading super sacs of polymer Loading and unloading rolls of tape Setting up and starting up production lines Monitoring processes and adjusting to keep product within specifications Using precision measuring devices to perform product approval tests Package, label, and place finished products on skids and prepare shipping -Promotes a safe environment and deals with unsafe issues immediately. -Raises quality concerns and contributes to their resolution -Uses ERP software to assign materials to work order, report production, locate materials, report non conformances and enter test results -Performs preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment as assigned -Keeps all equipment and work areas clean and left in excellent condition for next shift -Assists in training new hires to ensure their success -Other duties as assigned, including cross training within the department and other areas of the plant Key Qualifications/Skills: High School Diploma or equivalent GED. Post secondary education in a technical field is strongly preferred 2+ years machine or process operator experience in a manufacturing environment Effective communication in English, includes speaking, writing and active listening Good leadership and training skills Ability to self-manage time and balance multiple priorities Excellent mechanical skills, including comfort with using tools to make simple repairs and adjustments Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Use of measurement tools (caliper, micrometer etc.) and competence working in metric Competent math skills particularly as related to measurement and quantity calculations Computer literacy for completing tasks within ERP system, answering and sending emails and looking up documents Forklift operation (preferred not required) Working Conditions: Manufacturing setting within an air-conditioned facility Continuous periods of standing and walking required Considerable lifting and loading (with assistance of appropriate tools and machines) Moving, bending, pushing and lifting capability up to 60 lbs. Job Summary: Assisting The Lab Tier X on the development of new and existing shades. Tools and Equipment needed: Adaptive recipe, lab schedule, pH meters, Spectro Color eye, pipettes, pipette bulbs, and scales. Essential Functions: Maintain dye lab production according to established standard operating procedures. Check frequently all machines to ensure they are operating properly. Report all mechanical problems to the Lab Tier X and Dyehouse Manager. Weigh and mix dyes and chemicals. Complete daily shift reports Work scheduled overtime when necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. When no work is available in the lab, the technician will be assigned to the Dyehouse production team. Check Dyes and chemicals to ensure that new chemicals and dyes match the existing standard before using them in production. Check yarns to compare a new shipment of yarn to existing yarn to ensure equal dyeing capabilities. Reformulating and rechecking production formulas for better quality and cost purposes. Assist in developing new colors. Meet deadlines and production quotas. Maintain all equipment to the highest possible standards with the help of the maintenance team. Follow instructions from the Lab Trier X and Dyehouse Manager. Be able to fill in for Dyehouse floor technicians when needed. Operate the Spectrometer to read existing and new shades. Be able to work on Standard folder maintenance when needed. Mount sample on run card when needed. File folders back in the Dyehouse office as needed. Safety: Safely perform all duties following guidelines established by Valdese Weavers. Report all job-related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor as soon as possible. Actively participate in safety programs that identify, investigate, and correct safety hazards. Maintain 5S standards and ensure standards are met daily. Earplugs, safety shoes, and any other PPE as required by SDS.
