Responsibilities:
* Perform component diagnostic, replacement, instillation and repairs on, but not limited to: Areas and systems within the shaft which includes: conveyances, all level stations, hoisting systems and cages. Types of maintenance of the hoisting system could include slick line, rope and liner changes ext.
* Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on hoisting systems including monthly hoist systems PM, semi-annual hoist PM, and annual hoist PM.
* Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
* Perform shaft and equipment inspections including safety checks on the shaft, rope, clamps, shoes, rollers and other components.
* Train and mentor other employees.
* Required to act as relief hoist operator.
* Complete work area inspections and Housekeeping duties.
* May perform avalanche control duties and snow removal activities which could include operating Snowplows and blowers.
* May operate equipment such as: light duty vehicles, front-end loaders, track hoes, snowplows, and motor graders.
* Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications:
* Two (2) years' experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance required
* Basic knowledge of conveyor systems required
* Ability to troubleshoot and complete repair on all pumps required
* Basic fabrication skills including welding and cutting, brazing, arc welding, and air arc required
* Ability to identify parts needed for repairs by make, model, size, and type required
* Basic knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics and the ability to apply those skills to troubleshoot and repair systems preferred
* Basic knowledge of hoist and shaft maintenance for an underground mine preferred
* Ability to read and use precision measuring tools, torque wrenches, and hand tools preferred
* Excellent safety and attendance record required
* Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job required

POSITION SUMMARY:

Job Description
Under the general direction of the Weld Shop Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for performing all welding required on the mine site to the highest possible standards while continuously aligning daily functions to reflect Kinross' values.
Job Responsibilities
1. Service welding needs throughout the entire mine site, including the creation of machinery and repairing failures.
2. Run various wires and rods and understand the uses and applications of each type.
3. Read blueprints as part of welding preparation.
4. Write service records and reports, and file appropriately.
5. Welding test required
6. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality, and code of conduct.
7. Meets or exceeds established performance expectations set by management.
8. Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in job performance.

Education and Experience
