Responsibilities * Must demonstrate ability to meet the company standard for excellence in the areas of guest service, interaction with co-workers and uniform standards. * Follow the bar pre-shift notes and bar menus and provide service as described. * Serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures for serving alcoholic drinks including state/federal regulations pertaining to the distribution of alcohol (MAST 12 - Mandatory Alcohol Server Training required or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire). * Responsible to learn or have knowledge of various beer, wine varieties & spirits available, and be able to learn to suggestively upsell products to guests. * Must pour drinks responsibly in accordance with company standards for serving size. * Must check guest's ID in accordance with state/federal regulations to verify minimum age requirement for the purchase of alcoholic beverages. * Must communicate a cut-off to a guest as required. * Listen and respond to any customer requests or concerns. * Bartenders are expected to de-escalate intoxicated guest situations and if a guest becomes confrontational, belligerent, or uses extreme profanity, the bartender may contact management or security as required. * Contact a management member if unable to resolve or make a decision beyond the scope of standard decision-making. * Request additional product or restock product as required. * Ability to handle cash accurately is required. Employees are responsible for issued bank at their bar. * Maintains clean and sanitary work station at all times. Ensures bar equipment is clean & well maintained. * Ability to prepare and serve food items as needed using proper sanitary techniques (Food Handler's Card required or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire). * Other duties as assigned such as set-up and breakdown of bar equipment as required and assisting with organization of the cooler. Qualifications * Six months or more experience bartending. * Accurate cash handling skills. * Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. * Ability to be self-directed while working in a team-oriented environment. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and long hours. * Bartending school preferred. Farrelli's Bartenders are organized, able to think and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure, are guest sensitive and possess a sense of timing. Our bartenders also take pride in their personal/professional appearance and show dedication to the job through integrity and honesty in all aspects of employment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Welcome each guest personally using enthusiastic words, tone, and body language. Make guests feel appreciated. Work as a team with all personnel in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service. Work with others to keep all areas clean and stocked to the company's standards. Mix, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons of the bar and dining room following standard recipes. Input orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests, make correct change and provide receipts. Clean and arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display. Wash and sterilize stemware. Anticipate guests' needs and follow the half-full rule when offering another drink; remain alert of guests' signals (raising a hand, looking directly at you, etc.), and acknowledge signals. Check identification of guests who are consuming alcoholic beverages; refuse alcohol service to guests who are not of legal age. Responsibly serve alcohol and remain aware of guests' state of intoxication. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Be of legal age to serve alcohol. Possess state applicable health and/or alcohol compliance card. Basic mathematical skills and an ability to handle money and give correct change is required. Possess basic reading and computer skills. Possess basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and familiarity with standard drink recipes. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills. Must be multi-task oriented. Possess knowledge of company's food and beverage specifications and workplace safety procedures. Must have reasonable availability keeping in mind that most of the restaurant business is on nights and weekends.
