Perform and record pediatric histories and examinations. Order appropriate laboratory and imaging studies under physician supervision. Inform the physician of all changes in the patients condition Through triaging, request when necessary, the services of any support services provided by any of the local hospitals. Keep the supervising physician informed of additional needs, problem areas and all other suggestions which may be beneficial to the improvement of Family Practice Center, P.C. Be responsible for meeting CME requirements as needed. As indicated by training and experience, perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as directed by the physicians including the following: Superficial wound care and dressings. Venipuncture for blood collection. Bladder catheterization. Superficial wound care and superficial suture placement and removal. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Record and interpret electrocardiograms. Collections of specimens including pap smear and KOH prep and obtaining nose, throat, sputum, urine, urethra, cervix and wound cultures. Perform urine dips and slides, urine pregnancy tests, rapid strep tests, random blood sugar and hemoglobin finger stick testing. Perform incision and drainage of small abscesses and paronychia. Placement of intravenous lines. Perform audiometry, visual acuity, pulmonary function testing, tonometry and tympanometry. Remove cerumen impaction through ear lavage. Removal of foreign body, subcutaneous. Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular and intravenous injections Perform and provide patient education and counseling on hypertension, diet, smoking cessation, diabetes, birth control, immunizations and growth and development. Intradermal tests. Control of hemorrhage. Removal of dermatologic abnormalities by shave biopsy or excision. Perform initial behavioral health assessment and initiate treatment. Perform toenail removal. Perform anoscopy. Application of joint stabilizing devices such as ace wraps, tape strapping, upper and lower extremity braces and splints. Treatment of first and second degree burns. Fluorescein dye examination of corneal abrasion/ulceration. Assist with ACLS/defibrillation. Other duties: Convey to patients in language they can understand the summaries of all pertinent medical findings, laboratory results and advice for continuing care. Participate in employee and patient education. Rounds on patients at facility indicated. This job requires access to PHI. HIPAA training is required and HIPAA compliance is expected. Follow procedures according to OSHA. Follow procedures according to FPC protocol. Excluded from physician assistant duties and responsibilities: Arthrocentesis of knee joint.
