The Novelis Kennesaw team is seeking an Analytical Chemist in ECA lab. The person in this role will report to the Laboratory Leader. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating XRD, XRF, ICP, FTIR and XPS. This position will bring its experience in handling different analytical experiments and handle them according to the Novelis safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates personal commitment to safety and good EHS awareness by following established safety rules and practices during all activities. Ensure all users and visitors are compliant with all Safety Absolutes and other EHS initiatives.
Accountability for maintaining the analytical equipment situated in the area of responsibility to ISO 17025 standards
Operate and maintain ICP-OES instruments for elemental analysis of alloys and beverage matrices.
Perform XRD analysis for phase identification and crystallographic characterization of metallic samples
Conduct XRF testing for rapid compositional screening of solid samples.
Utilize FTIR spectroscopy for organic compound identification and beverage quality assessment.
Prepare samples using appropriate digestion, grinding, or dilution techniques.
Interpret and report analytical data with accuracy and clarity.
Develop and validate analytical methods in compliance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing.
Maintain laboratory documentation, calibration records, and safety protocols.
Run qualitative and quantitative analysis of elements, coatings and lubricants using different spectroscopic techniques such as FTIR, NIR and GDOES.
Communicate the research findings to the project managers and stakeholders on routine basis
Minimum qualifications
Entry to this level typically requires 3-5 years of progressive experience in analytical chemistry and a BS in chemistry, metallurgy, metallurgical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of experience in an analytical laboratory setting.
Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting ICP-OES, XRD, XRF, and FTIR instruments.
Experience with sample preparation techniques for metals and beverages.
Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and data interpretation.
Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is a plus.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Willing to collaborate with other Novelis R&D labs by undergoing training in other areas where resources are necessary for high priority testing
Hands on experience working with wet chemistry techniques with an emphasis on material science.
Desire and ability to collaborate and communicate across functions are essential to this position.
Knowledgeable about overall chemical safety.
Preferred qualifications
Master's in chemistry with 3 years of experience in handling different analytical equipment
Experience in metallurgical analysis and food/beverage testing.
Knowledge of ISO, ASTM, or FDA standards relevant to analytical testing.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Testing:

Teamwork:

Summary of the Position: The QLCI reports to Quality Laboratory Management. The QLCI will provide overall support to the laboratory with testing while working in a safe work environment. This is a position that requires the ability to manage time efficiently in order to complete assigned testing. The QLCI shall be willing and able to learn laboratory processes supporting testing as well as instrumentation theory and troubleshooting.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Testing:
The QLCI performs Release, Stability and Special Request testing of finished products and raw material samples following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and in-house test methods, and/or compendial methods.
The QLCI is expected to be capable of independently executing in-house methods and procedures and perform them as written with little to no assistance.
Teamwork:
The QLCI must be flexible to changes with the testing schedule and adapt to laboratory improvements implemented from management and/or teammates.
Assists with training of new laboratory personnel and document training in accordance with established laboratory SOPs and the Nutramax training program.

General Responsibilities:
Train on the operation of the following instrumentation but not limited to: Laboratory Balances, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC), Automated Titrators, FTIR, UV/Vis Spectrophotometer, Polarimeter, Dissolution and Disintegration Instrumentation. The operation of additional instrumentation and the need to train on new laboratory test methods when required.
Execute projects assigned by management within expected/established deadlines while managing time with testing responsibilities.
Stay current on publications released by USP, FDA and other pertinent regulating bodies to ensure the Quality Laboratory complies in the areas of analytical applications, release specifications, and documentation practices. Ensure competency of ISO 17025 test methods are current.
Assist in resolving laboratory Out-Of-Specification (OOS) results in accordance with laboratory investigation procedures if assigned.
Perform other assigned duties as may be required in meeting company objectives.
Communicate effectively with other departments within the organization and function within a team environment.

Minimum Requirements : The QLCI will have 0 - 2 years of laboratory experience working in a cGMP environment preferred. Experience preferred with operation of laboratory instrumentation including Gas Chromatography (GC) and/or Liquid Chromatography (LC). Job Description
Responsibilities:
* Formulates Powder media formulas per manufacturing protocols utilizing various weighing equipment such as scales and balance.
* Uses Mettler-Toledo IND780 terminal system in conjunction with the SAP ERP system to ensure correct raw materials assigned in the batch record are weighed at the specified quantity.
* Suggest changes in departmental procedures and processes (SOPs) as needed.
* Performs and documents line clearance at the start of each formulation event.
* Maintains all required logs and associated documentation.
* Assures that all chemicals are stored and labeled properly.
* Performs process scale checks on all required equipment including scales and balances.
* Keeps work area, utensils, tanks, mills, and equipment clean and organized.
* Ensures that supplies needed such as weigh boats, gloves, lab coats, etc. are well stocked in their designated areas. Orders supplies or informs Lead/Supervisor if supplies need to be ordered.
* Follows all safety procedures and works in a safe manner including wearing all required personal protective equipment.
* Understands and follows procedures to ensure that chemicals are handled properly.
* Good understanding of metric system and its conversions.
* Follows and actively participates in sustaining the 6S program in the area.
* Other duties as requested by Lead or Supervisor.
Required Skills/Education:
