The 1884 casting made to serve as the tip of the Washington monument is the 1st credited construction application using cast aluminum.
In 1888, the Pittsburgh Reduction Company was established, with the necessary electricity being supplied using steam generators.
Processes moved to safer materials starting in 1914 when zinc and aluminum alloys were introduced, also allowing for stronger creations.

Modest growth was realized through the mid 1970’s with several building expansions to accommodate the early years.
In 1972, brothers Robert Thomas and his two sons, Robert and James, acquired TAC with the objective of turning it into a major national producer of aluminum and magnesium castings.
In 1976 Philip left Galesburg Malleable Company and purchased all outstanding stock shares, to become the sole owner of Aluminum Castings Corporation.
TAC quickly outgrew its 4,000 square foot facility, and in 1980 acquired a 26,000 square foot facility in nearby Garfield Heights, Ohio.
His son, Roger (pictured right), joined the business as metallurgist and general manager in 1982.
Lana Rush(pictured in the center), Roger’s sister, joined the company in 1984 as CFO and Office Manager.
In November 1996, TAC suffered a major setback with the death of Robert Thomas, its president and majority shareholder.
TAC achieved NADCAP and AS9100 certifications in 2004, which in turn led to accreditations from companies such as Boeing, Rolls-Royce, Bell Helicopter, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Parker, Goodrich, Airbus and others.
In 2010 TAC purchased a machine shop to assist with the secondary operations required and to provide all finishing and assembly as required.
Effective January 27th, 2011 Alcast Company permanent mold aluminum foundry along with Bret Markum and Tony Kelsey purchased the Aluminum Castings Corporation sand foundry in Galesburg IL USA. Alcast discovered two exceptional foundry people to run the company and become partners and Co owners.
In 2014, TAC suffered another great loss with the passing of James Thomas, its president of 18 years.
In 2015 our aluminum sand foundry's name was changed slightly to Aluminum Castings Company LLC, but no major changes were made.
