This position is responsible for contributions to company profits through management of food safety, human safety, cost control, employee involvement, and continuous improvement initiatives. This is accomplished by optimizing the plant processes using all company resources including capital to meet plant objectives and goals. Additionally, this position is accountable for planning and coordinating all production needs from raw material receiving through in-feed to production and finally to packaging finished product. This includes scheduling raw material, planning shutdowns and meeting the production plan and budget.
Essential Job Duties/Key Accountabilities
Cost of Operations. Ensures efficient and effective resource use at the lowest cost for adherence to production schedule and exception management. Ensures accurate and organized process documentation in procedures, paperwork and computer business systems. Participates in the development of strategic plans and improvements for the Idaho Campus. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring proper staffing, maintaining budgeted line rates, preventing out of specification production, managing raw material changes, staging materials and/or ingredients, add back of out of specification product, and HOLD product disposition. Assists in the following areas:
Development of process budgets and cost estimates for new products and line extensions.
Prepares and presents annual process review documents.
Works with Maintenance in the planning and implementation of an effective preventative maintenance program.
Supports the formulation of the capital project plan, including project development and justification.
Provides leadership, training, coaching, and oversight of continuous improvement efforts in the value stream and modeling The Basic Way for all employees. This includes driving the daily management system, leading the front-line leadership in setting and achieving continuous improvement goals, establishing and achieving project plans, measuring performance, and driving accountability. Eliminates waste through the application of continuous improvement practices throughout the enterprise and reduces wasted motion through the proper design of the work environment. Manages value stream performance by using Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to ensure clarity of objectives and progress against said objectives.
Employee Development. Ensures the ongoing coaching, development and training of team members and provides for an effective, productive work environment. Develops Team Leader and Shift Manager knowledge of the processes. Communicates effectively between shifts and functional areas, including contact with Division and Corporate personnel. Participates in shift change meetings. Uses enabling technologies (e.g. E-mail, voice mail) and written notes to facilitate communication. Facilitates communication between the Operations and Maintenance departments. This includes developing open communications and teamwork between operations and maintenance employees. Be well versed in Agilisys and Operations Reporting and have the ability to access on a daily basis to input and extract pertinent information and correct errors. Be able to assist Operators with their data input.
Customer Satisfaction. Supervises product quality by adherence to product and packaging specifications, GMPS SQF Codes, FM prevention, inline routine sanitation, and area sanitation and tool inspection. Participates in customer contacts via customer complaint responses.
Employee Safety. Supervises safety performance by using SAFE principles, attends regular safety meetings and assists in development of safety meeting topics. Assists in safety inspections and ensures orderliness of work areas.
Environmental, Waste Reduction. Helps maintain smooth relationship with potato solid waste customers (Currently WECO). Minimizes the wastes generated by processing and assists with recycle were possible.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. S.) preferably in engineering or science related field and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Should have knowledge of Hyperion Planning Accounting software; Internet software; ERP system Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

The Western Sugar Cooperative has a challenging opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager. The position requires a very dynamic person with the ability to design, redesign, analyze the mechanical process in the processing of sugar beets into sugar, while showing strong leadership skills. Essential Functions

Analyze problems in the manufacturing process and provide solutions to mechanical issues through design changes and improvements to the mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated controls areas of the sugar beet process.
Collaborate with other plant personnel to develop the best possible solutions.
Participate in the maintenance budget development, to ensure the highest return on budget and asset investments based on equipment and program data.
Identify potential for cost reduction through extended asset life, reduce labor cost, and other asset/practices-related improvement techniques.
Work closely with the Maintenance Manager and property risk consultants to assure, applicable code compliance fire system maintenance, equipment reliability and inspections are scheduled and complete with minimal risk of mechanical or system failures.
Ensure health and safety standards are included and adhered to in written procedures and training.
Active involvement in the plant safety and quality effort and the assurance of all plant safety, housekeeping, regulatory, and policies within the assigned area.
Stay current in maintenance reliability technologies and best practices through trade magazines, seminars, and facility reliability conventions.
Lead Capital Equipment Improvement projects as needed in support of on-going Reliability and Mechanical improvements.
Assist with on-going efforts to create and maintain equipment bill of materials (BOM).

Skill & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering is required. Will consider candidates with other engineering disciplines along with commensurate mechanical experience.
A minimum of 5 years as a mechanical engineer. Sugar beet processing, sugar refining, food processing, or similar industrial process experience is preferred.
Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, automation controls, etc.
Demonstrated experience with equipment reliability, as well as preventive and predictive maintenance, including lubrication, oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, etc.
Experience using continuous improvement tools like Lean Six Sigma and Root Cause Analysis.
Proficiency in evaluation of machine or component failure analysis, selection of maintenance materials, processes, and development of ongoing improvement of maintenance systems, practices and efficiencies.
Experience managing improvement projects is preferred.
Hands-on experience with 2D and 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE, or other).

The Packaging Supervisor will serve as back up for both the Packaging Shift Lead and Packaging Superintendent, as well as provide support and coordination in the absence of the Packaging Maintenance Supervisor, Warehouse Supervisor, and Sanitation Supervisor on weekends, evenings, holidays, etc.
Main Responsibilities
Oversee daily packaging operations, ensuring that products are packaged efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with regulatory and quality standards. Execute packaging schedule by assigning staff for each line, coordinating cross-department support, and ensuring adequate materials and consumable supplies are available. Ensure team is urgently resolving equipment downtime to maintain target attainment and overall equipment efficiency.
Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork and professional development. Conduct performance evaluations for team members, providing constructive feedback and setting goals for improvements. Address performance issues and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies and procedures. Maintain documentation of employee development or disciplinary actions.
Plan and collaborate with Packaging, Sanitation and Quality teams to execute line changeovers within the target time and to the sanitation standard set by the company. Identify and lead initiatives to reduce changeover times and improve start up efficiency. Ensure start up materials meet product specifications.
Ensure that all Safety & Food Safety/Quality policies and procedures are strictly adhered to within the packaging department. This involves reporting Safety & Food Safety/Quality incidents, leading investigations and RCAs, driving closure of action items, monitoring compliance, and conducting training. Actively identifying potential Safety & Food Safety/Quality risks and resolving those risks by collaborating with cross-functional departments. Ensure yourself and your team complete all training assigned by the company before the target due date. Deliver instructor-led training to team as assigned.
Lead projects to reduce or eliminate points of waste on the line or in the packaging process. Apply the DMAIC methodology to identify, execute, and sustain improvement projects within the packaging department.
Responsible for required reporting, documentation, and communication including submitting necessary paperwork or reports to document daily attainment, writing technical documents to maintain standardization, using email to communicate professionally and effectively, and operating mobile platform to monitor and document overall equipment efficiency and quality datasheets. Must complete required reporting for a safety incident, manage material inventory along with employee time and attendance.
Execute employee validation program. Coordinate training of employees to meet their expected set of skills. Create development plans, when necessary to improve employee deficiencies. Evaluate and document when employees pass or fail validation stage gates.
Qualifications/Required Skills
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED and 4 years of packaging operations experience or applicable secondary education combined.
Language Skills: Ability to read, comprehend, and compose complex instructions, polices, procedures and correspondence in English. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Effectively facilitates meetings. Can effectively communicate professionally at all levels of the business.

Qualifications/Required Skills
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Have two years of trade school and/or five years' experience in maintenance.
Proficient with computers, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS.
Technical Skills
Able to install, maintain, and repair a variety of steam and hot water equipment systems involving boilers with complicated components, critical requirements, and ridged tolerances.
Monitor and adjust thermostats, switches, regulators, and other safety devices and alarm systems in compliance with established safety standards.
Must be able to use electronic controls, devices, and automatic boiler management systems to identify equipment malfunctions.

Purpose: The Machine Operator Helper assists in the operation of packaging machinery within the Packaging Department. Responsibilities:
