Bather job description

• Stage 1-- Pet Stylist Apprentice: Jump start your education by getting hands-on experience with our pets. These pets become our own pets while they are in our care, so our number one priority is to get safety certified. Under the guidance of the salon leader, you'll begin your training as a bather and learn about different dog breeds and styling. You'll help to get the dogs comfortable in our salon and spend time bathing them, trimming their nails and providing support to groomers throughout the pet's stay.
• Stage 2-- Grooming Academy: After getting some experience under your belt (well, smock!), you'll attend our paid Grooming Academy! You'll have 4 weeks in a classroom environment, gaining insights from our experienced Academy Trainers. You'll dive in deeper into breed styling, caring for different dog breeds, and get comfortable with tools and clippers. As an added bonus, at graduation, you'll receive a free tool kit worth over $600!
• Stage 3-- Groomer Trainee: You'll put your brand-new education and fancy new tool kit to work when you head back to our salon. With the leadership and oversight of experienced groomers, you'll begin to groom all different breeds and sizes of dogs. We have a target of 200 dogs to ensure you get the experience and diversity you need.
• Stage 4-- Pet Stylist in Training: Now it's time for you to really hone your skill set. You'll build relationships with your own clients, advise on styles, suggest new services and share in the joy that comes with a client picking up their freshly coiffed pet. It's the best thing in the world, well, that free tool kit is pretty great, too!

Essential Job Functions

The incumbent must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• Bathe animals, trim nails, and provide other services as directed by the groomer and/ or store leader
• Provide a thorough hands-on pet check-in and check-out process for each pet and pet parent
• Use good judgment and alert groomer of any anomalies that a dog may have
• Actively engage pet parents and pets, share product knowledge, and educate pet parents
• Authentically offer enhancements to meet our pet's and pet parent's specific needs to support the growth of the business
• Always treat all pets and pet parents with kindness, respect, and proper handling
• Positively interact with pet parents in-person, via email, text, and phone providing them with proactive communication and exceptional service
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment
• Rebook with pet parents to ensure timely, holistic care to promote pet wellness
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older
• Minimum 6 months of professional experience in pet bathing or grooming
• Passion for dog bathing and promoting well-being of pets
• Willingness to be educated about the products and services offered
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, which will require evening and weekend shifts
• Exceptional active-listening and customer service skills
• Good time management skills

Physical Demands

• Position requires person to be both indoors and outdoors (to assist with customer carry out)
• Must be able to stand 8 hours per day with or without a reasonable accommodation
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis with or without a reasonable accommodation
• Must be comfortable working with a wide variety of animals including small and large dogs
• Must be able to work around pet hair and dander

A Bather has the following key responsibilities:

* Delighting neighbors and pets with grooming services, such as brushing, bathing, conditioning, and nail trims
* Ensure the wellness and safety of our furry patrons at all times
* Develop long-term relationships with pet parents by understanding their needs, and recommending products and services that will keep their pet healthy and happy
* Perform routine cleaning to keep the grooming and self-service dog wash environment fun and inviting
* Assist store team members during grooming downtime
* Check in our furry patrons, schedule appointments, answer telephone calls
* Successfully completing Safety Training certification.

PAWsome Bathers will have:

* experience in retail or other industry where they have experience working with pets are welcome, but this isn't necessary.
* ability to move or lift merchandise, equipment or pets weighing up to 50 pounds.
* able to stand, bend or stoop for extended periods of time.
* flexibility in working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* Ability to pass the drug, background, and validated selection test, and be 16 years or older.
* Ability to review videos and take tests online.
