Job Summary:
The Estimator will be responsible for preparing complete, accurate estimates for all contract types (lump sum, time and material, etc.). This position is responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project. Provide aggressive follow-up with our clients to receive feedback on our proposals.
Responsibilities of this Position:
· Prepare detailed project cost estimates.
· Foster relationships with key Clients.
· Communication with subcontractors and suppliers
· Attend on-site pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits
· Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work and accept, review, and analyze subcontractor quotes for best value
· Prepare project bid status reports and ensure compliance with all specifications and contract Statements of Work and Bid Invitations
· Present cost estimates to meet customer proposals, providing consideration for general and special conditions
· Prepare scope specifications and requirements, prepare and inputs project schedules, perform quantity take-offs, prepare cost summary sheets, and input quantities into estimating software
· Maintain an accurate, current database cost codes of accounts for historical data
· Utilize the appropriate company and industry historical data for pricing estimates.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
3-5 years of related Construction Estimating experience.
Experience in deep foundations or heavy civil works is REQUIRED.
Project estimator skills that include performing basic engineering calculations, being familiar with engineering terminology and effectively communicate with Engineers, Project Managers, and vendors.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Full-Time Assistant Project Manager to join our Ft. Lauderdale office and contribute to the delivery of luxury commercial construction projects across the Southeast. This role involves direct engagement in project execution, supporting Project Managers and Site Superintendents, coordinating subcontractor contracts and vendor purchase orders, initiating estimates, maintaining and updating project management logs, and ensuring that work progresses on schedule and within budget.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
New project set up and coordination with field personnel.
Responsible for obtaining permits or approving revisions, including frequent visits to municipalities to expedite processes and avoid project delays.
Assist PM in negotiating scope and costs with subcontractors and prepare and issue subcontract including specific terms and conditions.
Assist in developing the project construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager and Superintendent and the required Subcontractors.
Schedule and track delivery of materials/supplies and equipment ensuring on-time delivery.
Assist the PM in processing all Subcontractor Requests for Information (RFI), and process submittals and Requests for Proposals (RFP) forms.
Manage project logs, schedules, submittal logs, subcontracts, RFIs, Shop Drawings, permits, inspections, purchase orders, certificates of insurance, change orders and plans.
Prepare, distribute, and monitor Change Order Requests by Owner and Subcontractors.
Organize project folders ensuring up to date information and optimum flow of information at all times (e.g. specifications, plans, plan revision, transmittals, purchase orders, changes, contracts, etc.).
Prepare weekly project reports and attend meetings with clients.
Responsible for closeout documents, including warranties, as-built drawings, punch lists, etc.
May be required to independently manage small construction projects of limited scope and complexity.
Assist management team as needed.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years experience in commercial construction.
Proficient in interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; team-oriented with a positive approach.
Fluency in English required; Spanish is a plus.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
Experience with scheduling software; ProCore proficiency strongly preferred.
Effective time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Skilled at identifying issues and collaborating with team members to find practical solutions.
Maintains professionalism under pressure; committed to accuracy, follow-through, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
Responsible for RFI and submittal process.
Be knowledgeable of the permit process and occupancy requirements.
Oversee the set-up of job files, logs, and other documentation.

Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, contract with Owner, subcontractors, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals and all other project related documents and maintain a complete and accurate set of as-builts.
Actively participate in post-bid, buyout, O/A/C, coordination, subcontractor, staff, schedule and scheduling meetings.
Qualifications
Education:
Four (4) year degree in an accredited construction related curriculum (BSCE, BSCM, BSAE, etc.) preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience:
At least one (1) year of professional experience through a formal cooperative education program or internship preferred.

Requirements

3-5 years of related Construction Estimating experience.
Experience in deep foundations or heavy civil works is REQUIRED.
Project estimator skills that include performing basic engineering calculations, being familiar with engineering terminology and effectively communicate with Engineers, Project Managers, and vendors.
