Position Overview The Sr. Field Clinical Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of site-specific recruitment strategies that result in meeting enrollment targets for Shockwave Medical clinical trials. The Sr. Field Clinical Engineer will play a critical role in clinical studies including device training, case support, and ensuring timely data collection for clinical programs. This work is accomplished with oversight, requires contact with internal stakeholders, frequent travel to clinical trial sites, works closely with physician advisors, and is critical to business success. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities * Responsible for coordination between engineering and supply chain to meet program cost and delivery requirements. * Conducts component and product integration. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. * Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. Required Qualifications * Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical design or aerothermal sciences) from an accredited college or university * Minimum of 6 years of experience in an engineering position. * This role requires the successful candidate to maintain a US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. Citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance Desired Characteristics * Engineering experience with the design, manufacture, & assembly of complex hardware * Engineering experience in GE Aerospace systems integration or similar systems engineering role * Experience in engine certification or qualification * Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems * Strong oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal and leadership skills * High level of computer proficiency * Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering related to turbomachinery design, testing, or systems engineering * Talented, highly motivated with good engineering judgment * Effective in contributing in a structured, cross functional team work environment This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Lubrication Systems: Define system requirements; size pumps, jets, passages; select fluids; design scavenge and filtration; complete thermal management analyses; and own FMEAs and fault response strategies. Bearing Design: Architect bearing selections and life calculations; establish preload, fits, lubrication regimes; support rotordynamic and thermal analyses; validate via rig or engine testing and data correlation. Limited-Life Engine Design: Develop design rules and margins tailored to mission profiles; set inspection/retirement intervals; drive affordability and manufacturability for targeted life limits while safeguarding safety.
