About the role, Your Impact
Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Restoration Ecologist - Stewardship Crew Intern our Naperville, Marengo, or Mokena, IL offices. The Stewardship Crew Intern will complete all aspects of restoration work and have the opportunity to work directly with our senior ecologists. Most projects are within an hour of our offices.
What your day-to-day will look like, what you will learn on the job
Complete all restoration work aspects, including planting, seeding, erosion control methods, brush cutting, and herbicide application within stream, prairie, wetland, and woodland restoration areas.
Help assist with construction projects like stream restoration and detention basin retrofits.
Complete work for municipalities, forest preserve districts, subdivisions, and private clients.
Education Requirement
In pursuit of an Associates or Bachelor s Degree in Natural Resources or a related field.
Must-haves, what you will bring
Must acquire herbicide license within 30 days of start date.
Ability to travel throughout the Chicagoland, Central Illinois, and Northwest Indiana areas (own transportation).
Candidates must be willing and able to travel on short notice and stay overnight as needed.

Ability to move and carry 35-50 lbs. on a regular basis.

Internship Description
The construction management internship positions provide students with an introduction to the road construction business. Internships are available in estimating or project management departments. Additionally, interns will get exposure to other departments such as, field supervision, survey, quality control, and trucking. Tasks will include but is not limited to supporting each department by performing takeoffs, completing paperwork and touring different jobsites to become familiar with construction operations. SCOPE: The Tool Specialist will provide assistance with CNC machine tooling (tool bodies, inserts, endmills, grinding wheels, etc.) and hand tooling (wrenches, hardware, etc.) for the manufacturing plant. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/ EXERIENCE:
2+ years of hands-on programming experience preferred

Coordinate tool tests with the CNC Programmer and report CNC programming changes that need to be made to improve tool life and part quality.
Clean up extra unused tooling at each work-center and inventory it to be sharpened or reused.
Set up tool packages for CNC machine changeovers to ensure CNC operators have all tooling they need to perform quick changeovers.
Inventory current tooling used at work-centers (such as custom-made boring heads) to help identify where spare tooling will be required to help production flow.
Assist the CNC operators in part changeover duties in pit-crew style changeovers to help the changeover go quicker and smoother.
Help complete program changes/transfers when CNC Programmer needs support.
Perform other duties, as assigned.

**A DAY IN THE LIFE**
At ARCO, an Intern has the opportunity to assist Project Managers with the following:
+ **Estimating -** Describing project proposals and assigning dollar values to the projects
+ **Scheduling -** Creating a working timeline for subcontractors/trades in order to complete the project on time
+ **Design meetings -** Attend design meetings with owner and team to understand design pro structural engineers, architects
+ **Buyout -** Send bid instructions, schedule, and drawings to subcontractors. Receive and evaluate proposals, then award the subcontracts
+ **Permitting** - Fill out permit forms, submit forms with drawings and fees, then send to city/county/fire and wait for approval
+ **Shop Drawing and Submittal Review** - Receive shop drawing or submittal from subcontractor, give to PM, communicate to subcontractor that they can begin ordering material and working

POSITION SUMMARY:
Participate in hands-on experience with our associates, specifically our Design Team, on the design process at Mariani Landscape. The intern will be mentored by experienced associates to learn our processes and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Follow company policies, procedures, and work standards.
Assist Design Team with rendering and drafting for client presentations.
Provide support for AutoCAD/Computer estimating systems.
Participate in onsite visits and walkthroughs with the teams to ensure needs are being met for clients.
Support the Project Team (both design side and sales side) with required tasks.
Make reproductions of plans as required.
Assist the Design Team with site surveys.
Consistently evaluate work and determine if further steps are needed to meet internal and external client expectations.
Maintain high standard of quality of all work performed.
Participate in weekly departmental and training meetings.
Arrive for each work day on time and prepared.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture and/or Design
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Attendance in a current landscape related degree program.
Demonstrate some knowledge of landscape terminology, plant materials, or installation techniques.
Demonstrate proficiency with AutoCAD for design solutions.
Demonstrate moderate proficiency in Photoshop and 3D model programs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work requires intermittent physical activity including standing, reaching and prolonged periods of sitting. Work requires driving a car to various job locations. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to client needs and deadlines.
