Under my leadership and 36+ years of banking experience, Bay Banks of Virginia grew from $300 million in assets to $1.2 billion. Completed a merger of equals and relocated both headquarters, becoming the 3rd largest community bank headquartered in Richmond. Expanded the Company’s footprint into Hampton Roads, which has exceeded $100 million in assets. After the merger, assembled an experienced management team in all critical areas. The team built the foundation to position the Bank for growth 3 to 5 times larger than its current size. Also a 3-year Strategic Plan, charted a path for increased earnings and a more diversified franchise, supported by an enhanced Capital Plan and a new Enterprise Risk Management framework. In recent periods, the Bank improved earnings and operating leverage and reports assets to FTEs in the top 20% for banks its size.Led capital raises and private placements of subordinated notes totaling $76.3 million, which is a reflection of the confidence the members of our communities and investors have placed in the Company's performance and leadership. Institutional investors make up just over a third of the investor base. The Company has continued to focus on growth, and with the second upcoming merger of equals, it will be creating a $2.4 billion regional community bank and the 4th largest community bank in Virginia with Blue Ridge Bank.Under my leadership as Chairman of VCB Financial Group, a trust and wealth management company, it expanded its presence to the Richmond MSA and has grown from $200 million to over $600 million in assets under management. VCB Financial Group entered into a partnership with the largest independent trust operator in the U.S., resulting in a more efficient trust operating model and shifting focus to sales. Previously, served as the founding President and CEO, and Chairman of the Executive Committee of State of Franklin Bank, in Johnson City, Tennessee during which the bank grew from a de novo to $360 million in assets, supported by three capital raises. Received my B.A. degree from East Tennessee State University and also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the College of Business and Technology, as a distinguished alumni, and currently serve on the Foundation Board. I have had a lifetime involvement in Boy Scouts of America and currently serve on the Executive Board of the Heart of Virginia Boy Scouts Council. Currently serve on the Board of The Doorways, a hospital guest house serving Virginia communities. Past Co-Chair of the Northern Neck Boys & Girls Club Capital Campaign.
