Founded in 1962, Bay College is known in the region for its superior teaching and abundant learning.
Dedication Ceremonies and Open House are held Wednesday, October 26, 1966.
In 1966, upon completion of the Portsmouth Campus, the Nursing Program became a college offering.
Since the early 1970's, Bay College has had a presence in Dickinson County, where in those early years courses were offered to assist students enrolled in nursing degree programs.
Established in 1972, the Bay de Noc Community College Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation which exists solely to support educational programs for Bay College, its students, and the community.
Pioneer Heights, the first university-owned student housing on campus, opened its doors in 1987.
The university expanded its reach to Contra Costa County in 1992, opening a satellite campus in Concord.
From its modest beginnings of approximately 200 students, the student population now approaches 2000 students registered for credit courses.
In 2003, the College leased a 20,000 sq. foot facility on Carpenter Avenue with eight traditional classrooms, a computer lab and office space for personnel.
The university changed its name to California State University, East Bay in 2005 to reflect its new regional positioning.
