Position Overview
University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) Nutrition Policy Institute (NPI) offers a unique recruitment opportunity for Assistant Project Scientist to work on studies related to youth cardiometabolic health; school physical activity and nutrition programs (recess, PE, school meals); and nutrition and physical activity policy implementation science. Potential research projects include examining longitudinal trends in student cardiorespiratory fitness; determining changes in elementary school recess minutes and related practices pre-/post-passage of state-wide recess law in California; and determining the impact of school lunch program changes in New York City Public schools on student school meal participation.
Location Headquarters: UC ANR, NPI, UC Office of the President at 1111 Franklin Street, Eleventh floor, Oakland, CA 94607.
Major duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Project Scientist will include collecting, cleaning, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data; designing and managing studies; supporting grant writing efforts; and presenting and publishing research through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
The Assistant Project Scientist will also have the opportunity to develop grant writing and mentorship experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with expertise in quantitative methods and public health nutrition and physical activity who would like to develop expertise in areas such as natural experiments, drawing causal inference from observational data, randomized controlled trials, school health policy, qualitative methods, and implementation science. The Assistant Project Scientist will also develop and conduct applied research and evaluation that is consistent with UC ANR's Strategic Vision and NPI's Strategic Plan and disseminate findings and recommendations to inform programs and policy.
Reporting Relationship: The Assistant Project Scientist will report administratively and directly to the NPI Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required qualifications:
Education: A minimum of a doctorate degree in community nutrition, nutritional epidemiology, public health, health policy or a related field is required at the time of appointment. Preferred background includes experience with state and federal nutrition assistance programs.

Applicants need to meet appointment criteria for the respective University of California academic title series and evidence for success in meeting required academic advancement criteria as per UC Academic Personnel Manual
Experience in design and execution of community/public health nutrition research projects.
Experience in grantsmanship, including submitting NIH and other federal and foundation grants, and history of conducting research and evaluations.
Primary authorship in peer-reviewed journals and academic conference presentations of research findings.
Qualitative and quantitative research skills which include research design, sampling plans, and sample size calculations, data collection methodology and data analysis methods, and interpretation of findings.
Strong statistical training with experience in longitudinal analyses. Experience and high proficiency using statistical analysis software: Stata, SAS, or R.
Ability to produce well designed presentation materials using PowerPoint or other related software applications.
Ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects, prioritize, and complete work efficiently in the face of competing demands. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills are required.

Position Summary:

Prepares process equipment (including but not limited to Bioreactors & ancillary equipment, Stainless Steel tanks, Pressure Transmitters, Flow Meters, Aggregate traps, Harvest discards, Transfer lines (buffers, cTCF), Hoses and small parts. • Cleans and Sterilizes equipment using appropriate CIP (Clean-In- Place), and SIP (Steam-In-Place) procedures;
Performs daily or routine process operations in the cell culture and purification of biotech and biological products (Kovaltry and Jivi). Operates equipment for these processes including:
Inoculates and monitors bioreactors. o Processes cTCF material to Continuous Cell Separation (CCS). o Operates Chromatography, MAEF, MAVF, and TFF skids;
Processes MAEF material using closed thaw process, step elution chromatography, Membrane Absorber and filter clearance technology, and gradient- controlled SP column separation techniques;
Operates 50L, 200L, and 1000L collection bag technology to ensure robust collection, mixing, and dilution of products;
Performs PEGylation of JIVI in process material using TFF technology;
Operates automated bagging systems;
Blast Freezes product for storage;
Dispenses chemicals and formulate solutions;
Prepares acids and bases as necessary.
Performs aseptic operations;
Takes, analyzes, and submits samples as required throughout the process;
Monitors and controls operation with computer control systems;
Completes all routine check sheets;

The Sales Manager is primarily responsible for managing and driving sales and margin in alignment with the financial plan of the retail store by managing and directing the sales team.

The Sales Manager may be expected to provide full leadership over the store at any point in the absence of the Store Manager.

Recruit, onboard, train, supervise, and develop a team of sales associates,
Cultivate a positive and collaborative work environment that fosters high performance and low turnover.
Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities.
Strategic Engagement - e.g. Huddles that align every decision in the store with the company Strategy.
Sales and Revenue Growth:
Lead and direct the daily activities of store sales associates to meet Sales and Profit Goals.
Develop selling system/ standards aligned to company strategy - Create and model a high performing sales culture.
Understand and facilitate promotional offers/ events and prepare the store team to maximize the results of every event.
Conduct daily sales role playing and product education for all sales associates - is an expert in both selling and the product being sold.
Focus on development of critical strategic categories and offers - specifically bedding, product protection and financing.
Sell consistently to every guest and align selling strategy with company standards (e.g. We are not a discount seller)
Store Operations and Inventory Management:
Use of analytics/ insights to build sales associates selling development plans.
Provide relevant insights on offers, assortment and selling process/ standards, etc. to ensure success is expanded.
Visual presentation (e.g. knowing what “good” looks like and partnering with the visual team to optimize) and consistent maintenance of the store.
Ensure standards are being followed by every associate in every part of the store - including every associate delivering the standard greet.
Assortment optimization (e.g. velocity walks/ optimizing the floor to win in the local market)
Highly visible and present on the floor and engaged with guests and sales associates in order to lead and win business the right way.
Develop P&L to support lever pulling/ strategic/ operational decisions.
Develop other store operational areas (e.g. inventory management, warehouse ops, other ops)
Customer Service Excellence:
Foster a customer-centric culture throughout the store.
Empower team to resolve customer issues efficiently and with empathy.
Track and analyze customer feedback to identify areas for improvement.
Act as a role model of Ashley's Core & Growth Values.
Lead customer engagement/ full customer lifecycle management.

Compensation: Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. Annual Salary: $72,000.00 - $84,000.00. Employees are also eligible to earn monthly, quarterly, and annual incentives based upon store sales; according to historical data, if store sales targets are met, employees can expect to receive between $27,250 and $40,000, depending upon store sales volume.
Profit sharing is available to eligible employees; this discretionary program is dependent on the profitability of the company.
