Our program staff include clinical nurses and medical assistants, nurse care coordinators, patient navigators, social workers, and dedicated dietitian team. An embedded child/adolescent psychiatrist is also part of the team. We provide primary care, consultations, and care coordination for children with medical complexity. The patient population is focused on youth with medical complexity from the Houston metro area. Our patients' diagnoses include extreme prematurity, tracheostomy and ventilator dependence, genetic disorders, short bowel syndrome. While primarily responsible for direct clinical care as a primary care pediatrician, this position would also involve research, advocacy, and education for families, health care professionals, and others. The Complex Care Clinic program is housed within the Section of Academic General Pediatrics and includes a wide array of faculty experts in medical education, health policy, advocacy, immigrant health and vaccination policy. The ideal candidate would preferably have experience in complex care or team-based, comprehensive care. An ability to work well with parents and a multidisciplinary team is essential, as is a passion for working with children and youth with special health care needs. Candidates should be board certified or eligible in Pediatrics or Med/Peds. Applicants seeking a full-time position are preferred, but those seeking a part-time position will be considered. This position is 100% based at the Texas Children's Hospital Main Campus and this will be the only clinical site for the faculty member. The Program Director reports directly to the Director of Pre-Collegiate Programs and provides part-time administrative support for the program in the months leading up to the summer program. Most of this preparation work can be completed remotely and on a flexible schedule. For the three weeks that the program is in session, it requires 40 hours per week of in-person work on Baylor's campus. The total time commitment, including training and prep work, should not exceed 355 hours. A Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant work experience are required. Job Duties * Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, and applicability to selected CT protocol. Screen patients for contrast allergies, contraindications, and appropriateness that would prohibit or modify the CT exam. Communicate with Radiologists to discuss stat/urgent findings. If modification of a CT protocol is necessary consult with radiologist to determine appropriate CT exam, and document changes as appropriate in electronic health record. Ensure other resources such as nursing, anesthesia, and scheduling are in order. * Interviews patient (two patient identifier), conducts patient screening and obtains medical history pertaining to procedure's clinical criteria. Completes exam charges and image documentation in a timely manner. Performs CT exams ensuring that patient meets radiation safety requirements to ALARA principles. Rajderkar Lab combines investigative methods in mammalian genetics, genomics and developmental biology along with human disease informed approaches to study gene regulation in dental and craniofacial morphogenesis and regeneration. We use CRISPR/Cas9 editing techniques, single-cell methods including spatial transcriptomics, in vitro differentiation systems and in vivo models (murine/porcine) to uncover molecular mechanisms of genetic disease. Job Description: We are seeking individuals with exceptional attention to detail to carry out various duties such as performing molecular biology experiments, plasmid vector design and cloning (reporter and knock-in constructs), routine biochemical assays and next-generation sequencing protocols. Our project needs entail both in vitro (e.g., cell culture and directed differentiation of stem cells, transfection/transduction) and in vivo disease models, FACS, gene and protein expression studies, lineage tracing, and imaging & microscopy. Candidates with bench skills and experience with mouse colony management, handling live mice, dissecting and processing tissues for downstream experiments are preferred. Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) in Biology or a related discipline is preferred with ideally 1-2 years of laboratory experience. Seeks assistance and guidance as needed to ensure that patient care is delivered in a safe, high quality and effective manner at all times. * Assess, identify, and monitor environmental, patient, and the patient's family needs in a respectful, positive, and timely manner to achieve satisfaction. * Perform basic hygiene care in accordance with the Department of Nursing policies, procedures and unit standards to include but not limited to pericare, oral care, daily hygiene, linen changes, skin changes, and foley care. * Transfer and transport patients in accordance with policies and procedures with specific consideration to age-specific and safety needs. * Resolve patient concerns by initiating service recovery and immediately escalating patient, family, visitors and staff concerns through the chain of command. * Build meaning and sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication with members of the healthcare team. * Prepare, update, and disseminate reports at the change of shift and when changes are noted in the patient's condition. * Support the administrative and clinical operations of assigned practice environment. * Orient new staff and students to work areas. Collaborates with other nursing staff and hospital employees to create an environment that is conducive to the retention of qualified personnel. * Utilize downtime to assist others and/or to provide additional supportive measures to patients and/or patients' families within the respective patient care environment. Completes other duties as assigned. Performs in the role of sitter as needed, documents as required. * Maintain current compliance with ongoing annual education requirements (modules, classes and competencies). * Performs other duties as assigned.
