This position provides assistance and/or performs basic activities of daily living and specified treatments and procedures under the direct supervision of the nurse. This position may perform non-direct patient care activities as assigned, requested, or directed. This position also performs clerical duties as assigned. Must have the interpersonal skill to communicate with respect and compassion to customers. This position also communicates information through various telecommunication devices and assists in coordinating patient flow.
Job Requirements:
2 years High School Education (Required)
Age 17 with work permit
Reading and math ability appropriate to the position. Multi-line phone skills, familiar with patient call systems and pagers.

Maintains proficient knowledge of computer applications specific to their unit/job. Provides other clerical support to unit as needed and directed by charge nurse or manager.
Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under the direct supervision of an RN. Maintains competency of tasks in which the PCA has been trained. Completes assigned tasks within required timeframe. Seeks clarification from the nurse when in doubt about how to proceed.
Performs supply, equipment, and environmental-related activities as required. Recognizes and reports problems with supply/equipment availability in a timely manner. Reports and follows through per unit standard concerning equipment that is broken or malfunctioning. Assures equipment/supplies are readily available for use by next person. Is knowledgeable of the function, operation, and maintenance of equipment specific to their role on the unit.

The certifed scrub technologist must be able to work in an environment that is at times high stress and fast paced while caring for high acuity patients. Technical skills are crucial in order to learn surgeon routines and to be able to anticipate surgeon needs. It is pertinent to perform as a leader in the COVR; updating surgeon preference cards, maintaining specialty surgical supplies and instrument trays, and mentoring new CST team members in orientation and RN team members learning to scrub cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures.

Job Overview: This position is responsible for performing a full range of laboratory tests, confirming the accuracy of test results, and reporting laboratory findings to the doctors, pathologists, or other physicians. This position may work in any of the major areas of the laboratory: Transfusion Service, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology/Immunology, Toxicology, Special Chemistry and Fibrinolysis. Operates and maintains a variety of laboratory instruments. Utilizes laboratory computer system in performance of duties. This position maintains strict adherence to established policies and procedures, and works under the supervision of a general supervisor or medical technologist. Direct supervision is not required for specimen processing, test performance or result reporting. Job Requirements: * Associate's degree.
