Summary Description:
The System Physical Security Coordinator is responsible for managing the planning, implementation, and oversight of physical security operations across Baystate Health's facilities, including Baystate Medical Center, community hospitals, outpatient clinics, and administrative sites. This position ensures a consistent and proactive security presence that supports the safety of patients, staff, and visitors while aligning with Baystate Health's mission, values, and regulatory obligations.
Reporting to the Director, System Security and Public Safety, the Coordinator will lead system-wide efforts in physical security infrastructure, access control, surveillance technology, and emergency readiness, while collaborating with local security leaders and cross-functional teams to conduct security vulnerability assessments and training in order to maintain a safe healing environment.
This role is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of physical security and security technology operations across the system. Current security systems include the Security Management Systems (SMS), Video Management Systems (VMS), Infant Protection Systems (IPS), Incident Records Management System (IRMS), Weapons Detection Systems (WDS), Visitor/Guest Management Systems and other security-related technologies and applications.
Job Responsibilities:
* Standardize physical security infrastructure and operations across all Baystate Health campuses and affiliate facilities.
* Develops Baystate Health security design guidelines for all new construction and renovation projects. Serve on planning, design, and construction committees.
* Manage all security systems in coordination with appropriate site leadership and command center staff.
* Conduct security vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for facilities, departments, and special events
* Oversee physical security infrastructure projects, including new construction and renovation site security planning and security vulnerability assessments.
* Participate in facility commissioning / systems commissioning to ensure security designs and technical equipment verifying that all physical security systems and equipment are designed, installed, tested, operated, and maintained according to best practices or manufacturer standards.
* Ensures that a set of security systems "as built" documents are maintained for each site. Updates and utilizes the security system as built plans to maintain current security posture for each site and departmental unit.
* Works closely with Information Technology team members to develop and sustain a defined network risk management strategy for electronic and physical security.
* Develop, implement, and update physical security policies and procedures in alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
* Ensure security operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
* Monitor incident reports and investigate security events, threats, or breaches, working with internal investigations and law enforcement when appropriate.
* Coordinate with emergency management team members on drills, response protocols, and disaster planning.
* Develops physical and electronic security utilization training programs in conjunction with the Public Safety Education Coordinator. (e.g. Public Safety Operations Center, ID Card production and weapon screening).
* Train and evaluate security staff in security technology and physical security procedures.
* Assist in managing contracts and performance of third-party security providers where applicable.
* May participate in Environment of Care, Safety, Emergency Management or other committees.
* Prepare regular reports on key security metrics, incidents, and performance indicators for leadership.
* Maintains proficiency with forensic analysis techniques relating to all security systems. Conducts forensic analysis for officers and investigators and others when necessary to assist in criminal and civil investigations.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management, with at least 3 years in a healthcare setting preferred.
* Strong knowledge of healthcare-specific security risks, compliance standards, and emergency protocols.
* Experience managing security systems and incident reporting (IRMS) platforms.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree- in criminal justice, security management, or related field
Certifications:
* Required: Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the Baystate Health system
* Physical Security Professional (PSP) R preferred.

Summary Description:
The System Physical Security Coordinator is responsible for managing the planning, implementation, and oversight of physical security operations across Baystate Health's facilities, including Baystate Medical Center, community hospitals, outpatient clinics, and administrative sites. This position ensures a consistent and proactive security presence that supports the safety of patients, staff, and visitors while aligning with Baystate Health's mission, values, and regulatory obligations.
Reporting to the Director, System Security and Public Safety, the Coordinator will lead system-wide efforts in physical security infrastructure, access control, surveillance technology, and emergency readiness, while collaborating with local security leaders and cross-functional teams to conduct security vulnerability assessments and training in order to maintain a safe healing environment.
This role is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of physical security and security technology operations across the system. Current security systems include the Security Management Systems (SMS), Video Management Systems (VMS), Infant Protection Systems (IPS), Incident Records Management System (IRMS), Weapons Detection Systems (WDS), Visitor/Guest Management Systems and other security-related technologies and applications.
Job Responsibilities:
• Standardize physical security infrastructure and operations across all Baystate Health campuses and affiliate facilities.
• Develops Baystate Health security design guidelines for all new construction and renovation projects. Serve on planning, design, and construction committees.
• Manage all security systems in coordination with appropriate site leadership and command center staff.
• Conduct security vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for facilities, departments, and special events
• Oversee physical security infrastructure projects, including new construction and renovation site security planning and security vulnerability assessments.
• Participate in facility commissioning / systems commissioning to ensure security designs and technical equipment verifying that all physical security systems and equipment are designed, installed, tested, operated, and maintained according to best practices or manufacturer standards.
• Ensures that a set of security systems “as built” documents are maintained for each site. Updates and utilizes the security system as built plans to maintain current security posture for each site and departmental unit.
• Works closely with Information Technology team members to develop and sustain a defined network risk management strategy for electronic and physical security.
• Develop, implement, and update physical security policies and procedures in alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
• Ensure security operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Monitor incident reports and investigate security events, threats, or breaches, working with internal investigations and law enforcement when appropriate.
• Coordinate with emergency management team members on drills, response protocols, and disaster planning.
• Develops physical and electronic security utilization training programs in conjunction with the Public Safety Education Coordinator. (e.g. Public Safety Operations Center, ID Card production and weapon screening).
• Train and evaluate security staff in security technology and physical security procedures.
• Assist in managing contracts and performance of third-party security providers where applicable.
• May participate in Environment of Care, Safety, Emergency Management or other committees.
• Prepare regular reports on key security metrics, incidents, and performance indicators for leadership.
• Maintains proficiency with forensic analysis techniques relating to all security systems. Conducts forensic analysis for officers and investigators and others when necessary to assist in criminal and civil investigations.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management, with at least 3 years in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare-specific security risks, compliance standards, and emergency protocols.
• Experience managing security systems and incident reporting (IRMS) platforms.
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree- in criminal justice, security management, or related field
