Summary

Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Registration Manager/Supervisor, the ED RegistrationRepresentative is responsible for interviewing patients and collecting patient demographic and insurance information in a fast-paced, high-stress Emergency Department environment. Collects necessary patient responsibility payments at the time of registration. Duties also include working closely with insurance, Clinical Staff, Medical Records, and other hospital personnel to ensure patient safety and fiscal reimbursement. Obtains necessary signatures of all required forms and interacts in a professional and courteous manner with fellow staff members and the public at large.
Requirements
1) Successfully complete training in Patient Registration Department policies, procedures, workflows, and applications including annual web-based training and basic medical terminology.
2) Complete departmental orientation to product lines; demonstrate competency in introductory proficiency testing >91%.
3) Receive sign-off by a mentor in product line activities.
4) Complete Compassionate Connections Program.
5) Maintain at least a 90% QA pass rate in overall account reviews, MSP, and RQA alerts.

8) Effectively communicate with patients during high-stress events to gather detailed demographic and payor information to ensure patient safety and fiscal reimbursement for the organization.
9) Must be capable of controlling emotions and reactions during tragic and sometimes dangerous patient interactions. Maintaining a calm and compassionate disposition is essential.
10) Ability to communicate verbally and/or in writing with coworkers and clinical partners to problem-solve issues and share recommendations for improvements.
11) Complete FirstNet account discharges, transfers, and status changes.
Complete morning and afternoon Preadmissions by designated timeframe as well as surgical late discharges.
12) Successfully complete BH ED policies and procedures including Trauma Registration, “JDoe” Registration, Burn reporting, Animal bite reporting, Weapons Related Injury Surveillance System (WRISS), Sexual Assault Nurses Exam (SANE)
13) Ability to analyze data received from insurance carriers to determine and educate patients about their financial responsibility for their ED visit
14) Request and collect pre-determined patient responsibility payments by use of an online payment portal and utilize payment plan options for patients who cannot afford to make the payment in full.
15) Ability to initiate emergency code procedures via overhead page**
16) Demonstrate the ability of donning and doffing of PPE. Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts of Infection Control and can adapt this knowledge to BH ED environments. Understands sufficient medical terminology to communicate with clinical staff partners.
17) Demonstrate ability to manage scheduling changes. Demonstrate ability to obtain coverage for missed shifts.

Job Summary
Responsible for providing comprehensive access program coordination and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of various business functions for the Pain Management practices at Mass General Hospital (MGH) and Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). This role manages administrative tasks and workstreams, oversees projects, and serves as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including providers, practice leadership, practice staff, and patients.

Qualifications
* A high school diploma or equivalent is required, but an associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
* Experience in patient access services, healthcare operations, or revenue cycle management 2-3 years required; experience in administrative operations/management 1-2 years preferred.
* Proficient in using office productivity software such as word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools.
* Knowledge of EPIC system modules is a plus.

This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day patient flow at time of check-in and check-out. The Patient Services Coordinator is expected to take complete responsibility for every customer interaction by creating a welcoming environment and providing outstanding service. General Responsibilities:
* Has primary responsibility for scheduling and rescheduling patient appointments in accordance with established guidelines. Utilizes wait list to fill cancelled appointments.
* Answers and triages incoming telephone calls, takes messages and assists patients and families with problem resolution both in-person and over the telephone to include the "MD access line."
* Conducts appointment confirmation calls and sends confirmation letters when applicable.
* Reviews the daily patient schedule and ensures that all appropriate preparations are in place to facilitate efficient patient flow for the day and correct demographic and insurance information is in place.
* Understand HMO, managed care, and other third-party insurers. Function as a patient resource around managed care plans, and insurance and referral issues with the knowledge to perform electronic insurance verification. Understand financial services and self-pay resources, and to provide patients with information as needed.
* Greets patients and visitors. Performs all patient check-in duties including payment collection, informing patients of anticipated wait times, and collecting and ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed.
* Provides cross coverage as necessary, including lunch and vacation coverage.
* Monitors Televox for patient appointment confirmations.
* Works closely with other Nantucket Cottage Medical Group/Nantucket Cottage Hospital departments to schedule visits.
* Coordinates interpreter services and patient transportation, as necessary.
* Prints pre-visit summary and labels at check-in and after visit summary upon check-out with-in the hospital campus.
* Obtains pertinent new patient information.
* Schedules ancillary appointments.
* Responsible for assisting and obtaining appropriate referral information from referral source.
* Pre-screens incoming referrals according to selection criteria.
* Coordinates prior authorizations.
* Coordinates medical documentation, scanning and indexing into the electronic medical record.
* Effectively navigates Epic, legacy systems, Patient Gateway, and MS Office suite technology systems. May function as a super-user as applicable.
* Responsible for sorting mail, incoming electronic fax queues and directs correspondence to the appropriate recipient.
* Monitors and manages Patient Gateway daily.
* Coordinates clinical and/or physician administrative schedules.
* Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental and visual attention requiring combination of alertness and manual dexterity when typing/using a PC. Able to stand for periods of time and able to push 10-15 pounds.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: High volume of telephone work and face to face interaction with patients, clinical staff and colleagues. Maneuver in fast paced inpatient and clinical areas. Professional business attire is required. Summary
Schedule: Full Time position, 36 hours per week. (3) 12 hour shifts, 7a-730pm. Every third weekend and third Holiday

Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Registration Manager/Supervisor, the ED RegistrationRepresentative is responsible for interviewing patients and collecting patient demographic and insurance information in a fast-paced, high-stress Emergency Department environment. Collects necessary patient responsibility payments at the time of registration. Duties also include working closely with insurance, Clinical Staff, Medical Records, and other hospital personnel to ensure patient safety and fiscal reimbursement. Obtains necessary signatures of all required forms and interacts in a professional and courteous manner with fellow staff members and the public at large.
Requirements
1) Successfully complete training in Patient Registration Department policies, procedures, workflows, and applications including annual web-based training and basic medical terminology.
2) Complete departmental orientation to product lines; demonstrate competency in introductory proficiency testing >91%.
3) Receive sign-off by a mentor in product line activities.
4) Complete Compassionate Connections Program.
5) Maintain at least a 90% QA pass rate in overall account reviews, MSP, and RQA alerts.

8) Effectively communicate with patients during high-stress events to gather detailed demographic and payor information to ensure patient safety and fiscal reimbursement for the organization.

11) Complete FirstNet account discharges, transfers, and status changes.
Complete morning and afternoon Preadmissions by designated timeframe as well as surgical late discharges.
12) Successfully complete BH ED policies and procedures including Trauma Registration, “JDoe” Registration, Burn reporting, Animal bite reporting, Weapons Related Injury Surveillance System (WRISS), Sexual Assault Nurses Exam (SANE)
13) Ability to analyze data received from insurance carriers to determine and educate patients about their financial responsibility for their ED visit
14) Request and collect pre-determined patient responsibility payments by use of an online payment portal and utilizes payment plan options for patients that cannot afford to make the payment in full.
15) Ability to initiate emergency code procedures via overhead page**
16) Demonstrate the ability of donning and doffing of PPE. Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts of Infection Control and can adapt this knowledge to BH ED environments. Understands sufficient medical terminology to communicate with clinical staff partners.
17) Demonstrate ability to manage scheduling changes. Demonstrate ability to obtain coverage for missed shifts.
