Department: Buildings Group Reports to: Project Manager/Manager of Electrical Engineering JOB SUMMARY: The Electrical Engineer I works to support the project team under the guidance of an Electrical Engineer II, Electrical Engineer III or Electrical Department Head by developing the virtual building model or AutoCAD drawings, complete with all supporting information content. The duties of an Electrical Engineer I include coordinating and preparing schematic design, design development, and construction documents. Assisting in performing site condition surveys, processing submittals, writing addenda's, request for proposals and onsite construction review of construction activities as they pertain to the electrical design of the project. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists an Electrical Engineer II, Electrical Engineer III or Electrical Department Head with electrical design of the project. Assists in producing electrical BIM models relative to compliance with office standards for graphics, model structure, and data management. Assists with the production of electrical AutoCAD drawings relative to compliance with office standards for graphics, drawing structure, and data management. Assists with coordinating electrical loading, circuit electrical loads and perform lighting calculations of the project. Assists with preparing and/or obtain electrical equipment selections. Prepare complete and constructible details for the Electrical work. Assists with editing of project specifications. Assists with cost estimating for all electrical aspects of the project. Assists with High Performance Design (LEED, CHPS, etc.) when part of project objectives. Assist Electrical Engineer II, Electrical Engineer III or Electrical Department Head during Construction Administration phase with tasks such as submittal review, RFI research and response. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Stay abreast of industry technology and developments including knowledge of local codes. Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in engineering or 6 + years of experience in the electrical engineering field. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of the basic principles of electrical engineering. Experience with BIM software, Revit preferred. Experience with AutoCAD software. Experience with specification software, SpecLink preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, NewForma or similar. Knowledge of Building, Energy and Electrical codes Knowledge of modern building construction methods and materials and of the preparation of specifications. Excellent verbal and written skills, including ability to present to others in small and large group formats. About the Role The successful candidate will work with multidiscipline teams on a wide range of building projects providing structural design and analysis. As an entry level member of our structural team, you will work with our structural engineering group under a licensed Professional engineer to complete a variety of project tasks. Assignments will include design and analysis, structural modeling and drafting, detailing, construction administration services, structural inspections, and technical report writing with guided supervision.
