Duties

Requirements

Position Responsibilities
As lead designer, independently perform and execute final design of roadway horizontal and vertical geometry, roadway design plans and profiles, utility plans and profiles, cross-sections, ADA compliance, maintenance and protection of traffic plans (work zone traffic control plans), markings, and signage plans using Civil 3D (required) and Microstation (preferred).
Create and configure roadway surface and utility network models utilizing Civil 3D, InRoads and/or OpenRoads Designer.
Generate design concepts and alternative options for roads and civil infrastructure to facilitate preliminary design and cost estimating.
Engage in cross-disciplinary design coordination with internal or external project staff, clients and governmental agencies to fulfill the needs of the project and acquire all necessary permits or approvals.
Oversee and assist in the development and review of technical engineering documents, design plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
Perform technical and quality reviews of engineering work by others in accordance with company, industry, and/or client design standards.

Responsible for providing any or all the following representative services over the course of their assignment(s) related to Site / Civil construction: prepare daily QA reports and submit to Owner at the end of shift, take progress photos of installation work, perform site surveys to avoid potential conflicts, collect existing measurement data in the field, documenting QA inspections performed as each observation, and observe Contractor QC testing, ensure daily punch lists are maintained and items are closed out in a timely manner, monitor testing and Inspection 3rd Party Agency activities and Commissioning Agents, interpret construction drawings & specifications, observe Health and Safety plan conformance, review Contractor daily QC reports for compliance with contract documents, prepare meeting minutes as necessary, monitor supply chain and procurement equipment and material deliverables, observe and document startup, turnover and commissioning activities.
Other Daily Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities

The Site/Civil Engineer will be a key member of the Bryant Engineering Team in our Syracuse, NY office, where he/she will perform design calculations and analysis in support of the successful completion of assigned projects for a wide range of public and private sector clients.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Site/Civil Engineer will assist Project Manager with the planning and design of assigned projects that meet technical requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
RESPONSIBILITIES: (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED)
Work on design teams in all aspects of given project to develop detailed design documents for construction plans that meet client specs and exceed client expectations
Perform quantity estimates, detailing and check calculations and drawings
Conduct code research and write specifications
Supports Project Manager on other tasks as assigned/needed

Works in a timely fashion to meet project budgets and deadlines

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
BS in Civil Engineering
1-2 years of experience preferred
Previous experience working in a consulting engineering environment a plus
COMPUTER SKILLS
Proficient in AutoCad Civil 3D
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

TRAVEL:
Local travel to job sites and client meetings as required

This new team member will work with our Site/Civil Team to design and detail plans on a variety of important projects, including Renewable Energy, K-12 schools, Municipal Water and Sewer, Healthcare, Multi-family housing, and University markets. Qualifications
Civil Engineering Degree with a minimum of 5-9 years of experience
PE preferred (will entertain a candidate that possesses an EIT with intention to obtain a PE)
Proficient knowledge in utility sizing and storm water design
Capability of site layout, grading, and permitting
Strong proficiency with hydraulic modeling software, AutoCAD Civil3D, Microsoft Word and Excel
Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
Team-oriented "can do" attitude
