Radiology Tech ERT Job Responsibilities
Performs Procedures and Examinations:
* Applying proper immobilization devices.
* Assisting the radiologist during fluoroscopic procedures.
* Preparing special contrast media solutions (barium, non-ionic contrast material) to be used in fluoroscopic procedures.
* Operating c-arm fluoroscopy for intra-operative cases.
* Performs radiology procedures and examinations according to physicians orders and department policies and procedures.
* Evaluates radiographs for technical quality to ensure accurate diagnosis.
* Exhibits skilled positioning techniques when needed in unusual situations, such as trauma, surgical or immobile patients to ensure the most diagnostic images possible.
* Recognizes appropriate Index Exposure factors, such as S & L #'s and understands how to obtain the best image while minimizing exposure.
* Uses primary and secondary markers to properly mark images.
Equipment Operation/Image Management/Record Keeping:
* Recognizes problems and troubleshoots equipment.
* Communicates to proper person for needed repairs to ensure correct operation.
* Provides sufficient patient history to the Radiologist to aid in the diagnosis and documents in the appropriate manner.
* Checks patient exam charges to ensure correct patient charging (credit, cancel, revise, add, etc.).
* Ensuring images sent to PACS are appropriately identified and marked. Marking cases reviewed on PACS for Radiologists dictation.
* Notifies appropriate person when corrections on PACS need to be made with images/files.
* Utilizes email appropriately to receive communication and to communicate to others.
* Instructing students in clinical education.
Contributes to the Overall Effectiveness of the Department:
* Completes other job-related duties and projects as assigned by Coordinator/Manager.
What You Bring
Education and Experience:
The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through graduation from an approved school of radiology technology with subsequent registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and certification by the State Board of Health.
Knowledge & Skills:
* Requires knowledge of radiation emitting units.
* Demonstrates skills to position patients properly for all examinations.
* Demonstrates analytical skills needed to make judgments regarding quality of radiographs.
* Demonstrates well-developed communication skills to understand written and verbal instructions.
Working Conditions:
* Hospital environment with hazards due to radiation.
* Wears lead protective aprons and gloves during certain procedures; must wear film badge and maintain strictly controlled standards.
* Must commit to a weekend alternative schedule.
* Must be able to take call and arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes of being called in.
Physical Demands:
Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e., to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, to position/lift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted, over 35 pounds requires assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.

* Prepares a sterile set-up for each procedure performed under fluoroscopy according to AORN Standards.
* Able to prep a patient using proper technique according to AORN Standards.
* Turns over procedure room in a timely manner using approved cleansing agents.
Image Management/Record Keeping:
* Obtains accurate patient histories from patient, nurse caring for the patient and the physician, documents in the appropriate manner.
* Checks patient exam charges to ensure correct patient charging (credit, cancel, revise, add, etc.)
* Results procedural information into the RIS in a timely manner.
* Ensures images are in proper files on PACS.
* Notifies appropriate person when corrections on PACS need to be made with images/files.
* Enters patient information accurately into the C-arm.
* Prints pictures, a chart copy and one for the patient.
Equipment Operation/Room Responsibility:
* Recognizes problems with equipment operation to correct problems.
* Communicates to proper person for needed repairs to ensure correct operation.
* Operates all diagnostic imaging equipment.
* Provide clean/sanitary examination room and department for the patient.
* Troubleshoots diagnostic imaging equipment for problems.
Miscellaneous:
* Follows hospital radiation safety regulations.
* Wears radiation badge at all times and submits badge monthly for testing.
* Orients new staff and students to work areas upon request.
* Accurately badges daily clocking, YTO, holidays and call (or timely completion of the "purple" correction form).
* Performs any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
* Utilizes e-mail appropriately to receive communication and to communicate to others.

Education and Experience:
The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of some college or vocational training. ARRT or ARRT eligible, State Certification required. No previous experience is required. Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) Accredited Radiography Program. Must have valid 'General Certification' from Indiana State Board of Health. Must complete CR Specialist Manual within 120 days of obtaining full/part time position or within 6 months if PRN associate.
Knowledge & Skills:
* Must possess excellent Radiographer skills in regards to positioning, technique, film critique and department protocols in relationship to film/screen and/or Computed Radiography.
* Must have extensive computer knowledge of Computed Radiography, Radiologists/E.R. Physicians workstations, Clinical View, PACS Broker and Radiology Department networking to perform quality assurance testing, troubleshoot, and teaching/assisting Radiographers.
* Must possess excellent teaching skills with the abilities to listen, learn and understand exam difficulties in order to help provide solutions for the best exam possible for instructing Radiology Students.
* Extensive knowledge of a functioning Radiology Department.
* Must have knowledge of radiation protection and understand and utilize the methods to protect patients, self and staff.
* Must pass ARRT within 9 months of hire for radiographer position.
Working Conditions:
* Must be able to take call and arrive at Hospital within 30 minutes of being called in.

Job Summary and Qualifications
As a CT Technologist, you would operate CT equipment, to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bones, organs and tissue used to diagnose medical conditions. You will prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and positioning the patient to capture optimal images requested by the physician.
You will accurately interpret a physician's scanning instructions, administer contrast materials, prepare and operate the CT scan equipment.
Assist the radiologist in administering medication and contrast agents, performing biopsies and all types of care to patients.
