We are looking for Survey Crew Chiefs to support projects around the United states. This team may support projects in any of the following states: CO, MT, WY, NM, ND, SD, NE, KS, MO, IA and MN. + Implement Project Survey plants, according to instruction. Lead Field Survey Operations: Manage daily activities of survey crews conducting boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking surveys.
+ Operate Advanced Equipment: Use GPS, robotic total stations, 3D laser scanners, and data collectors to acquire high-precision measurements. Ability to use CAD proficiently for layouts, (AutoCAD, Civil3D or Microstation) to convert drawings into Trimble Business Center
+ Interpret Plans & Legal Documents: Read and apply engineering drawings, plats, deeds, and construction documents to guide fieldwork. Able to work within tight tolerances vertically and horizontally. Set and maintain control network.

**Location**
Our southeast office is located in Brentwood Tennessee, and individuals work out of this office, and travel around the region to support projects in TN, KY, MO, MS and NE, and potentially other surrounding states. **Responsibilities**
Field Engineering:
- Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
- Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work
- Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
- Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data
- Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets

- Enter data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with jobsite management

Estimating:
- Assist in reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various productions and costs appropriate in preparation of a bid

- Complete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or engineering or similar field, with an interest in developing skills and experience in hands-on, self performed construction with at more than 2 years of experience (not including internships) in the construction field, performing functions as outlined above, preferably in the Heavy Civil Infrastructure market. If no BS degree, must have at least 6 years related experience/education.
+ Must have working knowledge and be able to perform operations in scheduling, understand "critical path method/CPM", material controls, estimating, subcontracts, change orders processes, record keeping/documentation control, jobsite reviews, coordination of work on a site, and understand estimating systems, material management systems, scheduling tools, document control systems.
+ Experience with leadership and management of people, strong communication skills (verbal and written), planning and organization skills
+ Familiarity with paving, grading, cut and fill, excavation, anchor bolt on, concrete forming is ideal for this role.
+ Willing to travel to projects and relocate.

What You'll Be Doing:
Independently develop and/or supervise the creation of contract documents for transportation projects meeting client quality requirements -including defining the problem, establishing scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status
Analyzing design issues and providing detail design that satisfies client's need
Delivering products consisting of detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses
Supporting other discipline activities as necessary

**District Overview**
**Kiewit's Central District** is one of our largest infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, structural concrete/bridge, water/wastewater, and transportation projects. We self-perform work such as mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more - so be ready to get your hands dirty! While headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the majority of our work is concentrated in the Central and South-Central regions of the United States. **Location**
This position will be based out of our Tennessee Brentwood office, supporting projects around Tennessee and Kentucky. We offer relocation to the Brentwood/Nashville Area, and provide per diem and trips home for your assigned projects.
**Responsibilities**
+ With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
+ Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
+ Inspect subordinates' work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
+ Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software with input from other project management personnel.
+ Manage document control; receive and log in new issue drawings and other contract documents; maintain document control log.
+ Review new issue drawings and contract documents for change of conditions; quantify impact of changes and review with supervisor; distribute new issues to field.
+ Prepare monthly cost projections using information generated from project management systems and prepare quarterly cash flow projections.
+ Improve project operations by recommending, as appropriate, better methods, staffing and procedural changes.
+ Act as managing project engineer/coordinator on multiple projects, providing supervision and on-the-job training for lower level engineers.
+ Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
+ Manage and support project team including direct reports and others as needed
+ Help drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.
**Qualifications**
**- BS degree in construction management, construction engineering, or other related engineering disciplines plus a minimum of 5+ years' field and project engineering work experience in self-performed construction, with a focus in heavy civil works/infrastructure**
- Minimim of 2+ years' experience managing engineers with exposure to cost control and scheduling management, performing functions as outlined above
- Ability to read, analyze and identify discrepancies on engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents
