Brown Bear Home Care is owned by Frank Brown and his wife, Ann Cramer-Brown. We are both transplants from the San Francisco Bay Area. I started working in the construction trades building homes in Grass Valley, California in the early '80s until I found out working 3 jobs 7 days a week was more than I could handle.
I worked as a Park Ranger and Police Officer Reserve until we moved to Truckee after 10 years of service. Ann and I decided in 1995 to move from San Carlos to Truckee and build our home in Tahoe Donner.
After a few years of working for local parks and recreation departments in the area, we both decided to help Ann's parents with their house cleaning service in Tahoe Donner. We soon realized with the rapidly expanding cleaning service and maintenance of the vacation homes here in Tahoe Donner, this would be a good business to grow. From those small beginnings, we have expanded our services to include trash enclosures, home repair and improvements, snow removal, spa services, and more, and combined our company with the old business of Mop and Trot cleaning.
We then purchased Kibbe's Home Services in 1996 when Stan Kibbie retired. In 2004, we purchased MW driveway sealing and began doing driveway sealing as a way to better serve the customer base that keeps growing. We have many aspects of our company and many areas still to explore.
Our “get it done” attitude has allowed our business to grow and thrive in this area so much so that many of our competitors have used our business model to start their own business. We currently employ from 9 to 11 full-time employees, most of who are local from the area.
