About the Role
The IT Support Technician reports to the IT Manager and provides comprehensive technical support across the organization. This role ensures smooth operation of IT systems, supports users with troubleshooting, maintains infrastructure, and manages the organization's web presence of Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration. Acting as frontline IT support, the position handles day-to-day technical issues, escalates complex problems to senior staff, and contributes to projects that enhance system performance, reliability, and digital engagement.
Key Responsibilities
● User & Technical Support
Respond to help desk tickets and service requests promptly.
Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
Provide timely and patient technical guidance to staff explaining technical concepts to non-technical users and escalate advanced issues to the IT manager.
Maintain a detailed trouble log of support requests and resolutions.
● System & Network Maintenance
Support daily operations of servers, workstations, and network devices.
Install, configure, and update hardware/software (PCs, laptops, printers, VOIP telephones, mobile devices, firewalls, routers).
Monitor backups, internet access, and system security.
Maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure and assist with configuration management.
Reorganize and document cabling, racks, and patch panels.
● Web Management
Maintain, update content, and optimize the organization's website for performance, security, and usability.
Manage hosting environments, DNS records, SSL certificates, and domain renewals.
Oversee CMS platform (WordPress) and ensure proper functionality.
Integrate third-party tools (CRM, fundraising platforms, analytics, payment gateways).
Track website traffic and performance using analytics tools; provide reports on engagement and conversions.
Optimize site structure and content for SEO best practices.
● Collaboration & Projects
Assist in planning and implementing upgrades to improve system capacity, speed, and reliability.
Provide coverage for IT staff
Support cloud-based server initiatives and emerging technology projects.
Collaborate with communications/marketing teams to publish timely web updates and campaigns.
Research and implement emerging technologies (AI-driven chatbots/tools, automation tools, etc.).
● Specialized Support
Configure and support Google Workspace, Microsoft Suite, and enterprise applications (e.g., Financial Edge, Raiser's Edge).
Troubleshoot VOIP systems, audio/video equipment, and lab computers.
Act as backup for website, email, and domain-related issues.
Support installation and troubleshooting of A/V equipment (LED TVs, projectors, etc.).
Perform hardware replacements (hard drives, RAM, motherboards).
What you bring to the role
● Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Qualifications:

* Ability to travel and work at other WIC centers in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx.
* Attends all mandatory trainings and meetings.
* Participates in program outreach to Local Organizations and Community Partners (Subject to travel).
Qualification and Requirements:
* B.S. or B.A. in Food and Nutrition, including at least 18 semester credits in nutrition. Entry-level computer skills.
* Foreign degrees considered- Must be Translated and Verified by World Education Services.
* Two years of professional experience in nutrition.
* Registered Dietitian preferred but not required: Completion of an approved hospital dietetic internship which satisfies requirements for Registered Dietitian (The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics) or RD eligible and NY State certification.
* A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Familiarity with computers, basic word processing, and good data entry skill.
* Bilingual required (Spanish).
* Customer service experience preferred.
* Possess strong communication skills (listening, written, oral, and public speaking).
* Dedicated to helping improve the lives of disenfranchised and marginalized communities.
* Excellent team player with the ability to be flexible and work collaboratively and respectfully.
* Ability to embrace diversity; Possesses people and cultural competency skills.
* Work collaboratively both internally and externally and engage in consensus-based decision making.
* Must be reliable and very organized with strong time management.
* Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently.
* Able to assist with receiving, sorting and storing inventory.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Salary: $46,750 - $49,500.
