The responsibilities and duties of the Behavior Intervention Specialist include, but are not limited to: * Conduct behavioral assessments under the supervision of a New York State licensed psychologist * Serve as a team member in the regular review of an individual's functioning, and guide the team in planning and implementation of appropriate psychological services * Design, modify, and implement behavior support plans, in conjunction with the treatment team BSP development/implementation is conducted under the supervision of a New York State licensed psychologist (Special Note: A Level 1 qualified BIS can supervise a Level 2 qualified BIS in the development and implementation of Behavior Support plans that do not have any intrusive or restriction interventions) * Design, modify, and implement medication monitoring plans, in conjunction with the treatment team. * Provide a range of psychological services to individuals and groups for the purposes of addressing psychological/emotional needs for the participants (i.e., individual and group counseling) * Consult with families and residential providers on an as needed basis relative to psychological services and behavioral interventions * Serve as a resource to staff both formally through the development of in-service training and consultation informally through routine contacts with staff * Engage in ongoing communication with service providers, treatment providers, and other relevant team members regarding coordination of services * Administer appropriate psychological tests necessary to assess individuals' functioning level in relevant areas (e.g., dementia assessment, adaptive behavior assessment), or for the purposes of behavioral assessment.
