We are seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Specialist to take full ownership of the wastewater treatment systems at our client's wastewater facility. This is a critical, hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, optimization, and compliance of the site's wastewater treatment processes.
The successful candidate will be the subject-matter expert for wastewater operations on site, ensuring system reliability, environmental compliance, and continuous performance improvement. This is a fully onsite position requiring deep technical capability and operational accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Process Control
Own and operate the wastewater treatment systems, ensuring stable, compliant, and efficient performance at all times
Monitor influent/effluent quality, process parameters, flows, and treatment performance
Optimise treatment processes to handle variable loads and operating conditions
Core Technology Ownership
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot centrifugation systems, including solids separation and dewatering
Manage and optimise MBR (Membrane Bioreactor) systems, including membrane performance, cleaning protocols, and integrity monitoring
Oversee transfer systems, including pumps, piping, valves, and conveyance infrastructure
Maintenance & Reliability
Develop and execute preventative and corrective maintenance programs for wastewater assets
Troubleshoot mechanical, process, and instrumentation issues impacting treatment performance
Coordinate with maintenance teams and external service providers when required
Maintain accurate maintenance and operational record
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental permits, discharge limits, and regulatory requirements
Support sampling, testing, documentation, and regulatory reporting
Prepare for and support internal and external audits and inspections
Safety & Site Integration
Champion safe working practices and adherence to site safety standards
Work closely with site operations, utilities, and environmental teams to ensure seamless integration with broader facility operations
Required Experience & Qualifications
Proven experience operating industrial or municipal wastewater treatment systems
Hands-on expertise with centrifugation, MBR systems, and wastewater transfer systems (mandatory)
Strong understanding of biological, mechanical, and membrane-based treatment processes
Experience with preventive maintenance programs and troubleshooting complex process issues
Familiarity with environmental compliance, permits, and regulatory inspections
Comfortable working in a fully onsite, operational environment
Preferred Background
Wastewater treatment at industrial, resource recovery, food & beverage, or organics processing facilities
Experience working in facilities with variable loading and challenging influent characteristics
Wastewater certifications or relevant technical training (California certifications a plus)

OVERVIEW OF POSITION: Under direct supervision, provides quality clinical supervision and work direction to direct reports, providing discipline- specific treatment for children with developmental delays, disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Provides training and onboarding for new associates; ongoing training to assigned Program Managers and Behavior Interventionists; and specialized training to associates preparing for various certifications.
Works with Regional Clinical Director and Human Resources in the recruitment/selection process of new program associates. Oversees associates involved in the recruitment/selection process as needed.
Attends conferences and trainings to remain current regarding new research, current trends and developments in autism, special education and related fields.
Functions as liaison between the organization, families, and other community agencies including regional centers, school programs, therapists, and health care providers assisting with questions and concerns as they arise. Travels as required.

EDUCATION:

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Behavioral and Educational Support Specialist provides comprehensive support to students by addressing both their behavioral and academic needs. This role involves working closely with students, teachers, and other school staff to enhance the learning environment by managing behavioral challenges while assisting students with academic tasks. The specialist aims to foster a positive and inclusive educational experience by promoting behavioral growth, academic success, and social-emotional development.
Working Conditions
This position is typically performed within a school environment, working closely with students in classrooms and during school activities.
The role may require flexibility and adaptability to address different students' needs and varying academic or behavioral challenges.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
High school diploma required; Associate degree or coursework in education, psychology, special education, or a related field is preferred.
Previous experience working with students in an educational setting is highly preferred. Experience supporting students with behavioral challenges and academic support is a plus.
Must have a valid California Driver License and car insurance
Must have reliable transportation to ensure consistent and timely attendance.
Intermediate-level skills in MS Office (including Excel, Word, Microsoft TEAMS, and Outlook).
Must be able to pass all required tests and clearances (Live Scan (DOJ, FBI, Guardian) TB test, etc.)
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families.
Ability to manage classroom behaviors and de-escalate difficult situations in a calm and effective manner.
Knowledge of basic academic support strategies and behavioral management techniques.

Behavioral intervention training (e.g., PBIS, CPI, or ABA).

Behavioral Support:
Implement and support behavior intervention strategies to help students improve their behavior and emotional regulation.
Work directly with students exhibiting challenging behaviors, providing positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
Assist in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students with specific behavioral needs.
Observe and document student behaviors, identifying triggers and progress, and report findings to teachers and behavioral teams.
Work with teachers to create a structured and supportive classroom environment that minimizes disruptions.
Academic Support:
Assist students in completing classroom assignments and understanding academic content across subjects.
Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students who need extra help with their schoolwork.(REMOVE THIS)
Help students develop study skills, organizational strategies, and time management techniques to support academic success.
Work with students to improve academic performance by providing instructional support, encouragement, and guidance in a variety of subjects.
Collaborate with teachers to identify students who need additional academic support and help implement tailored strategies.

Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and school staff to monitor student progress and adjust support plans as necessary.

Crisis Management:
Assist in managing behavioral crises in the classroom by providing appropriate interventions and ensuring student safety.
Follow crisis intervention protocols when needed, ensuring that all actions are documented and reported appropriately.
Record Keeping and Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavioral interventions, and academic assistance.
Document student behaviors, academic achievements, and any challenges faced, sharing relevant information with the educational team.
Complete and document daily Medi-Cal progress notes to track services provided to youth, ensuring compliance with billing and electronic health record requirements.
Regularly checks email and uses a personal cell phone to communicate effectively with the team.

• Models and trains staff in the principles and practice of Positive Behavior Support methodology.
