As a Foster Care Adoption Specialist, you will be primarily responsible for providing professional adoption services, to include quality family and child assessments, successful adoptive placements, and postplacement supervision in accordance with agency policies, state contract(s) and licensing regulations. This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide thorough assessments for pre-adoptive children and families;
Conduct periodic adoptive educational and preparational group meetings for pre-adoptive families to ensure appropriate resources for referred children;
Process case assignments and complete child and adoptive family assessments in accordance with agency expectations and procedures;
Participate in adoptive planning for referred children, advocating for the child's best interest through available adoptive family resources;
Coordinate pre-adoptive planning with foster care workers, foster and adoptive parents and DHS referral sources, including MARE, when necessary;
Prepare children, foster and adoptive families for adoption, and conduct pre-adoptive visitation of referred children with appropriate families;
Conduct adoptive placements for referred children with approved families in accordance to contract and agency expectations;
Ensure quality adoptions services within state licensing requirements;
Provide a minimum of quarterly post-placement supervision contacts with adoptive families and children;
Organize and manage time to insure reports and documents are completed in a timely fashion;
Attend required court hearings;
Meet regularly with supervisor to consult on case review case plan and direction, and to evaluate progress;
Participate in adoption events and other meetings as required;
Attend required training hours per state licensing, DHS, COA, and agency mandates;
Attend training to apply newly gained knowledge in proving services;
Promote Bethany's adoption services within the community, including public relations contacts, as requested;
Demonstrate flexibility with working hours outside of the normal business hours to meet the needs of the role to include some evenings and weekends, as needed;
Maintain effective communication with community agencies or individuals involved in service provision;
Participate in program development and planning as requested by supervisor;
Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services or equivalent field of study from an accredited college;
Master's degree in Human Services or equivalent field of study from an accredited college, a plus;
At least two (2) years of adoption experience in a child welfare agency, preferred;
Must possess the ability to engage, develop, and maintain positive community relationships with a diverse group of individuals;
Must possess excellent interviewing, observation, diagnostic, and family assessment skills;
Must be highly motivated and able to take initiative;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Work well under pressure and adaptable to change;
Must have an ability to work flexible work hours to include some evenings and weekends;
Computer skillssufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of MicrosoftOffice suite;

Conduct within 3 weeks of auth end
Write AND submit within 10 days of the date conducted

Develop, monitor, and change client behavior treatment plans (BTPs)
Write Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs)
Utilize best practices (e.g., DTT, NET, SBT, DRA, etc.)
Collaboration with other services
Utilize Central Reach for client data analysis and documentation
Train BTs and QBHP's
Teach & monitor the implementation of client BTPs
Evaluate BT performance with BST perform
Develop applicable goals

Provide clinical coverage of the center according to satisfactory expectations
Utilize current evidence-based assessments (e.g., ABLLS-R, AFLS, VB-MAPP, CPFQ, Vineland, and PEAK)

Supervise QBHP/RBTs within the caseload
Supervise Practicum Students
Attend IEP meetings, collaborate with other treatment team members and members of the child's education environment regarding patients' progress through interdisciplinary team meetings, record review, and informal discussions as appropriate.

The team member may be exposed to a client who exhibits physically aggressive behavior, which can include kicking, pinching, punching, biting, hitting, etc. The team member may need to use appropriate behavior management techniques with a client, which requires agility, quick reflexes, strength, the ability to run and restrain the child, and the ability to use physically evasive movement. The team member will be required to stand, walk, sit, grasp, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, squat, lift and carry the child, hear, type, see, and write. The team member must be able to push independently, pull, lift, move, and carry objects weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds.

As part of your role you will be responsible for some of the following:
Complete ABA Assessments, such as FBA, VB-MAPP and ABLLS-R and develop ABA programs to be incorporated into the IPOS.
Train staff, parents and other professionals in the implementation of ABA programming
Engage parents in treatment planning and parent training sessions.
Systematically monitor consumer's ABA programs, graphs, and other data collection methods.
Assist with the development of procedural integrity checks within the center based ABA program.
Collect and summarize data on an ongoing basis. Generate reports on progress in ABA programming once per quarter.
Provide regular supervision to Behavior Technicians or other assigned ABA staff. Must complete one hour of direct supervision for every 10 hours of ABA services provided.
Provide individual and group supervision to practicum students as needed.
Maintain a caseload of up to 12 ABA cases and up to 5 consultative cases. Caseloads may vary depending on severity of cases and amount of oversight necessary for the cases.
Ensure client safety and dignity through trainings and supervision
Attend all required training to enhance skills and meet Agency guidelines and as required by the State of MI, COA, and other agencies governing the operation of the Agency.

To qualify for this exciting opportunity you will need:
Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, ABA or other human service field
Must be credentialed as a BCBA for at least two years
