Responsibilities
The Clinic/Therapy Aide II will perform necessary clerical duties and with assist with patient treatments as directed. Ability to manage multiple tasks and to work with other staff and departments within a team to ensure quality patient care. Primary responsibilities are assisting with activities in a variety of departments. Duties may include answering phones, and clerical duties including data entry. May accompany patients to appointments. Work is full time during the weekdays, Monday-Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm. Work is performed at the clinic with occasional work in the community or residential site.Your key responsibilities will include:
Assists with the implementation of patient treatment programs in the Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech/Education Departments according to legal guidelines and under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist. Requires lifting, handling, carrying and manipulating patients, equipment and supplies weighing up to 150 pounds.
Requires ability to use proper lifting techniques, good balance, and sufficient strength to provide patients with virtually all levels of assistance from standby to maximum assistance. Must have adequate endurance, motor, visual and cognitive skills to demonstrate and/or assist with therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living, social skills, transfers and handling therapeutic equipment.
Performs toilet and chair transfers without assistance for patients up to 150 pounds utilizing approved transfer techniques. Transfer techniques include standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. Patients requiring moderate to maximum assistance and weighing over 200 pounds are lifted and/or transferred by two persons.
Performs documentation such as daily progress notes, treatment modules, and behavior modification documentation. Performs organizational/administrative projects such as filing and light typing. Sets up and dismantles patient charts in a timely manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will have:
Passion for Care: A deep understanding of the requirements for providing the type of care and supervision needed by patients, including the ability to communicate effectively with them.
Leadership Skills: The ability to recruit, employ, train, and evaluate qualified staff, and to make tough decisions when necessary.
Experience and Education
Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in related field is required. Certified Registered BehaviorTechnician is required.
Work Experience: Experience in rehabilitation or related field is preferred.

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 18, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility, Unit Supervisor (Safety), or Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety), the Psychiatric Technician (PT) (Safety) organizes and provides a basic level of general nursing and behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to patients in accordance with the Mental Health Program Guide, policies and procedures, and regulations in a variety of correctional health care settings. The PT (Safety), pursuant to the PT scope of practice and in collaboration with the health care team, ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients. The PT (Safety) provides basic level of general nursing and behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to patients under valid authorization by a provider's order and the delegation and clinical direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), provides support to the care team for daily health care operations, and communicates effectively with patients and other members of the health care team. The PT (Safety) is responsible for addressing the ongoing needs of patients, working with the members of the larger health care team, and promoting the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.

Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE. Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 18, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Under the supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse II/III, Correctional Facility, Unit Supervisor (Safety), or Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety), the Psychiatric Technician (PT) (Safety) organizes and provides a basic level of general nursing and behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to patients in accordance with the Mental Health Program Guide, policies and procedures, and regulations in a variety of correctional health care settings. The PT (Safety), pursuant to the PT scope of practice and in collaboration with the health care team, ensures the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients. The PT (Safety) provides basic level of general nursing and behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to patients under valid authorization by a provider's order and the delegation and clinical direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), provides support to the care team for daily health care operations, and communicates effectively with patients and other members of the health care team. The PT (Safety) is responsible for addressing the ongoing needs of patients, working with the members of the larger health care team, and promoting the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a valid license to practice as a Psychiatric Technician issued by the BVNPTE. (Applicants who are within four months of completing the Psychiatric Technician curriculum accredited by the BVNPTE will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure this license before they will be eligible for appointment.)

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

On an assigned shift, the Senior Psychiatric Technician (Safety) directs and/or provides for the care, treatment, and training of clients following established standards and procedures. The Senior Psychiatric Technician must have the ability to work extended hours and various shifts and must float to all work areas within the facility if called upon to do so.
* Must maintain required license to practice as a Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
Effective October 1, 2025, State employees are subject to a salary reduction of three (3) percent in exchange for five (5) hours per month of the Personal Leave.

Working Conditions
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Regular interaction with clients and staff in monitoring provision of direct services, and other conditions common to on and off unit training environments. Being responsible for staff who perform security tasks such as accounting for utensils and other equipment/tools to prevent the use as a weapon; inspecting the facility to identify security breaches that could lead to the escape of forensic client; responsible for staff that include escorting forensic client in and out of the facility; and observing and intervening in forensic client behavior that may injure people, damage property or signal impending escape attempts. Exposure to communicable diseases, and other conditions common to a clinical/nursing environment. Participation in meetings and conferences and other conditions common to an office environment. Effective use of equipment for report writing and data collection. Working different residences within the Facility may also be mandatory. Mandatory overtime may be required on a periodic basis.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance and sensory ability during mentally and emotionally stressful and emergency situations encountered on the job in order to not endanger their own health and well-being or that of their fellow employees, forensic clients, non-forensic clients, or the public, and be able to perform the duties contained in the duty statement. May be required to escort clients to different areas on/off campus to appointments/scheduled trips, which may inclue driving a State vehcle such as a golf cart, van, car, etc.. Must be able to stand for periods of time in different areas of the unit or training sites and respond to all behavioral/medical interventions as required and participate in client containment, intervention or restraint.
Level of Care employees will be required to perform the following Essential Functions: Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance; must be able to participate in client containment, intervention or restraint; must have the ability to work extended hours and various shifts; must float to all work areas within the facility if called upon to do so.

The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
